Doubles Team Fails to Advance, Ends Season in Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. ? The University of Oregon pair of Dominika Dieskova and Ceci Olivos saw their season end on the court of the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif., Thursday at the NCAA doubles championship. The Duck duo was defeated in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3 by Ana Cetnik and Helena Besovic of TCU.
“This was a great tennis match both teams played at a high level throughout,” head coach Nils Schyllander said. “We had our chances the girls had a set point in the first set and just got unlucky and couldn’t get the set. I’m proud of how they played, they could have just used a few more points.”
The last Duck team before Olivos and Dieskova selected to the NCAA doubles tournament, Daria Panova and Courtney Nagle, advanced to the quarterfinals.
The loss ends Oregon’s run in the postseason as Dieskova fell in the first round of the NCAA singles tournament, Wednesday.
