Student Athlete of the Week - Sept. 17 to Sept. 23

Senior Nicole Garbin has been named the GoDucks.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 18-23.
The All-American candidate accounted for two goals and one assist in the Ducks’ games against Nevada and Idaho. Garbin’s two goals were her 25 and 26 career goal as an Oregon Duck.
Her impressive performance over the weekend also moves her closer to breaking several of Oregon’s school records. She is now only five goals behind Chalise Baysa’s school record 31 career goals and her four consecutive games with a point is one off Sierra Marsh’s school record of five consecutive games with a point.
The Garbin File
Personal
Born Nicole Kanani Garbin on Feb. 6, 1982, in Wailuku, Hawaii. Parents are Alex and Janesey Garbin. One brother. Practiced with the UO women’s basketball team in 2001-02, but didn’t see action. History major. Also working on a Master’s degree in teaching and licensure.
Oregon
All-America candidate successfully petitioned the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility due to medical hardship. Arguably the best offensive player in school history who already ranks first in career game-winning goals (13), assists (14) and shots (173) and second in goals (22) and points (58). Needs 10 goals and 12 points to pass Chalise Baysa (1998-01) for first in both categories. Also simple to illustrate the difference she makes for Oregon. Since her career began in 2001, Oregon is 26-27-3 when Garbin plays and 5-28-5 when she has been benched with an injury or a red card.
