Ducks Host Civil War in Last Home Dual Meet

This week: The Ducks (6-11, 1-7) welcome the No. 18 ranked Oregon State Beavers (14-2, 6-1) to McArthur Court for the Civil War, presented by your Northwest Dodge Dealers, looking to avenge the early season loss to their interstate rivals.
Scouting the Beavers: The Beavers are ranked for a reason. They have a wrestler ranked in the top six in the Pac-10 at every weight class including three ranked in the top-25 in the nation. Heavyweight Ty Watterson, ranked sixth in the nation, sat in the first go round of the Civil War and Oregon’s own heavyweight, Chris Dearmon, is on a three match winning streak. Also, as Dearmon’s last match at McArthur Court, it should be one of the most entertaining matches of the night.
Coach Kearney’s Take: “Our guys must get amped up for this match, I mean, how can they not. The Civil War at McArthur Court is a tremendous event. The Beavers are a very good team, but we were close in many of the matches and we hope we can get over the hump and get some wins this time around.”
Ranked Ducks:
Here’s how the Ducks rank in the Pac-10 (as of Feb. 6):
125: Ryan Dunn, T3rd
133: Joey Lucas T4th
141: Justin Pearch, 3rd
174: Ronnie Lee, 5th
285: Chris Dearmon, 5th
Duck Seniors Leave Their Mark: The Civil War will mark the last match of the collegiate careers of five Oregon wrestlers:
Michael Chalfin - A consummate teammate, Chalfin always strove to make those around him better on and off the mat. Though he only wrestled in two matches this year, the senior has helped the growth of many Oregon wrestlers throughout his time in the program.
Chris Dearmon - Tied for seventh all-time in career pins with 19, Dearmon is one of the most successful heavyweights in Oregon history. Standing only one win shy of 50 wins for his career, the Central Point, Ore. native passes a legacy of consistency and hard work ethic to those that will come later.
Joey Lucas - The vocal leader of the team, Lucas has compiled 35-43 record over his career at Oregon. One of only two Oregon wrestlers to gain a victory against the Oklahoma Sooners, Lucas’ work ethic has allowed him to have a strong return to the lineup after missing all of last year with injury.
Justin Pearch - A transfer from North Idaho College where he was a two-time All-American, Pearch quickly became one of the most consistent wrestlers in the Oregon lineup. Compiling a 38-16 career record, the Estacada, Ore. native has never been pinned in his entire Oregon career.
Tony Rolen - Although he has missed a great majority of the 2006-07 season due to injury, Rolen possesses the heart and ability that had the coaching staff believing that he would be one of the top wrestlers before his career was over at Oregon. Although he was not able to see the promise of the season through, he has continued to be a leader in the mat room and an example to all those that will come after.
