Jordan Adds Another School Long Jump Record

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In Friday’s opening day action of the Tyson Invitational, University of Oregon senior Lauryn Jordan broke her long jump school record for the second straight weekend in the event hosted by the University of Arkansas in the Randal A. Tyson Track Center.
In the championship section of the event, Jordan finished third overall with a leap of 20-4 1/2 (6.21m) and again easily eclipsed the NCAA provisional mark of 20-0 1/4 (6.10m).
In her other attempts Friday, the Stockton, Calif., native also posted marks of 19-10 1/2 (6.06m), 20-1 1/2 (6.13m), 19-2 1/4 (5.85m), 19-11 (6.07m).
Jordan had previously raised her school record last Friday in the Husker Invitational pentathlon in Nebraska (20-1, 6.12m). The third-year Duck also owned the previous preseason school record (19-11 1/2) that came in 2005.
Overall in Friday’s event, unattached entrant Alice Falaiya (second, 20-9 1/4 (6.33m)) bested the field over Yvonne Mensa of Illinois (second, 20-5 3/4 (6.24m)).
Oregon’s other entry came on the track as sophomore Rebekah Noble made her 800m season debut (seventh, 2:08.42). Katya Kospetskaya of Texas State won the event (2:03.58). The returning NCAA indoor runner-up Noble was nearly a full second under the NCAA provisional standard (2:09.40).

Looking ahead to Saturday’s second and final day action in Arkansas, a Duck women’s 4x400m will compete as well as sophomore decathlete Alexey Shkuratov. Also on Saturday, a quartet of Ducks will competed in junior men’s and women’s races in the USA Cross Country Championships in Boulder, Colo., while a majority of the team will compete in the Husky Classic in Seattle.
