Ducks Look to Continue Home Dominance Against Longwood, Colgate

This Week: The Ducks look to extend their winning streak as they face the Colgate Red Raiders (0-6, 0-0 Patriot) and the Longwood Lancers (0-4, 0-0). The Ducks are 0-4 lifetime against the two schools, but both of their losses came on the opponent’s home site. This will mark the first meetings at Pape’ Field for the teams.
Promotions Highlight Last Home Weekend: Thursday is BiMart $2 night as fans can pick up a coupon at any local BiMart location for admission for two dollars. On Saturday, any fans wearing a shamrock in honor of St. Patrick’s Day will receive admission for $2. There will also be a plethora of prize giveaways that day.
Scouting Colgate: The Red Raiders continue their trip through the MPSF, as the Ducks will be the third team in the conference that the Raiders have faced. They are 0-2 on the trip so far, falling to Stanford, 10-9, and California 16-7. Colgate is looking for its first win of the year, and will look toward their defense to keep the game close throughout. Sophomore Molly Carroll has been twice named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week this season and has 21 ground balls as well as 11 cause turnovers on the year.
Ducks vs. Red Raiders: The Ducks are looking for their first win against the Raiders. Seven different Ducks scored in last year’s 15-7 loss on the Raiders’ home field, but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders used a run of fiver straight goals after halftime to put the game out of reach. The Ducks also fell to the Raiders, 15-9, in Oregon’s inaugural season, as five different Ducks tallied goals, including three from co-captain Jen May.
Scouting Longwood: The Lancers are also looking for their first win of the year and are coming off of a 20-9 drubbing by Denver, one of Oregon’s MPSF rivals. They are led by Cathleen Strain who has nine goals on the year, more than double anyone else on the team.
Ducks vs. Lancers: Lindsay Killian, Kate Fleming, Ilsa van den Berg and Jana Bradley all scored two goals apiece in last year’s 15-10 defeat at the hands of the Lancers. Bradley also tallied two goals in the Ducks first ever game against the Lancers in 2005.
Take a Debow: Goalkeeper Sam Debow and the Duck defense have excelled since Oregon’s starting goalie Anna Poponyak went down. Debow has already claimed the team lead in saves with 27 and is undefeated at Pape’ Field (2-0).
Poponyak is out following a knee injury in the Ducks’ match against UMBC in which an attacker fell on the sophomore ten minutes into the game. Poponyak suffered a partially torn ACL and will make a decision on her future this season soon.
East Coast Spring Break Brings Matches to Pape’: Come watch some great teams from the East Coast play each other at Oregon’s Pape’ Field during the next two weeks as:

Sweet Home Cookin’: The Ducks are undefeated (4-0, 2-0 MPSF) this year at Pape’ Field and if they are able to get two wins this week it will mark the first undefeated home season in Oregon history. The Ducks take to the road for the rest of the season, as they enter MPSF play and the MPSF tournament which will be held in Davis, Calif.
