Ducks Host Bruins, Trojans at Home This Weekend

This Week: The No. 24 Ducks (11-5, 0-3 Pac-10) look for their first Pac-10 win as they host the No. 11 UCLA Bruins Friday, March 30 at 1:30 p.m. and the No. 4 USC Trojans Saturday, March 31 at the Noon. Both matches wil be held outside, weather permitting, or in the Student Tennis Center.
Scouting UCLA: The Bruins (11-5) have jumped up the rankings recently, from 22nd two weeks ago to 11th, after a sweep of the Arizona schools, including a 7-0 shutout of #42 Arizona and a 6-1 beating of #19 Arizona State. Their five losses on the year have all come to top-ten ranked teams. Four of the Bruins lineup are ranked in the top-100 singles players in the nation, including #20 Riza Zalameda, #40 Tracy Lin, #43 Yasmin Schnack and #96 Alex McGoodwin. They have mixed and matched the lineup throughout the year and this weekend should be no different.
Ducks vs. Bruins: Last year, UCLA swept Oregon rather handily as Dominika Dieskova was the only Duck to keep her match close, ultimately falling 7-5, 6-2 to then 20th-ranked Laura Gordon, a senior who is no longer on the Bruin squad. Every Duck in the lineup will be looking for their first victory over a Bruin in their career.
Scouting USC: The Trojans (10-2) have moved up to No. 4 in the country, their highest ranking this year, as they have won their last eight matches and their two losses have also come only at the hands of top-ten ranked teams. USC is lead by #8 Lindsey Nelson, who has a 10-2 record at the top position in the lineup and the Trojans also feature four ranked players. 12th-ranked Sarah Fansler plays at the second position and also has an identical 10-2 record at that position.
Ducks vs. Trojans: The Ducks were also swept by the Trojans last year, 7-0, as the matches were all decided in straight sets that favored the then fourth-ranked Trojans. All of the current Ducks are also looking for their first career win against a Trojan opponent.
