Ducks Slated for Two in San Diego

This Week: The No. 24 Ducks (11-7, 0-5 Pac-10) play their last non-conference matches as they take on two teams in San Diego, first facing the Aztecs of San Diego State on Friday (10-9) and then the Toreros of the University of San Diego on Saturday (6-13).
Scouting SDSU: After struggling to open the year, the Aztecs have won five of their last six matched, including a win over #58 New Mexico and the Pac-10’s Washington Huskies. Erika Krausova leads the team at the top position, with her 6-6 record. Aleysa Vidov has been solid switching between the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and compiling a 12-7 overall record.
Ducks vs. Aztecs: The Aztecs handed the Ducks their first road loss last year, rallying for the 4-3 victory. The Ducks took an early 3-1 lead, after winning the doubles point and gaining victories from Dominika Dieskova at the top position and Monica Hoz de Vila at the No. 6 position, but the Aztecs would rally to win 4 straight singles matches to take the team match.
Scouting USD: The Toreros (6-13) are also on a little bit of a run after a slow start. They’ve won four of their last five matches after a 2-12 start, including a win over #65 Marshall University. Amanda Demidova has the most wins on the team, having compiled a 10-9 record playing primarily out of the four and five positions. Samantha Mouly has a 9-5 record out of the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Monica Wisener has won two straight matches at the top position for the Toreros, but has only compiled a 5-12 record on the year.
Ducks vs. Toreros: Dominika Dieskova is the only current Duck to have faced the Toreros, as Oregon and San Diego met in the 2004-05 season. Dieskova was one of four Ducks to gain wins over USD as Oregon won that match 5-2. The senior defeated Lauren Kazarian, 6-3, 7-5. Kazarian was a senior and is no longer on the team.
