RACE RECAPS (UNOFFICIAL):
9:00 p.m. ? Women’s 10,000m
Mile 1: Brianna Dahm (OTC Elite) goes to the front, she looks like a pacer for teammate Cack Ferrell. Dahm leads Ferrell through the mile in 5:17.5, they have a 15-meter lead over the 2nd place pack, which includes Tera Moody (BRC-Adidas) and Betsy Keever (Impala Racing Team).
Mile 2: Dahm drops off at 6.5 laps, Ferrell is now running solo in the lead, now 50-meters ahead of the chase pack. Ferrell passes 2-miles in 10:35.7 (5:18 mile).
Mile 3: 15:55.73 for Ferrell (5:20.0 mile), she has 80-meter lead over Moody and Nicole Feest (Colorado State).
Mile 4: 21:17 for Ferrell (5:21 mile). Moody 5-meter lead over Feest, both are still 80-meters behind Ferrell.
Mile 5: Feest has caught Moody, and the two are now working together behind Ferrell. Ferrell is 26:44.8 (5:27.3 mile) as she maintains her lead.
Lap 21: Moody drops Feest, is now running in 2nd place. Feest is 15-meters back. 82.9 for Ferrell with a mile to go.
Lap 22: Moody is now running strong in 2nd place, Feest hanging on for 3rd. 82.5 for Ferrell.
Lap 23: 82.0 for Ferrell with 800 meters to go. Moody still running strong in 2nd, but Ferrell has lengthened her lead to 100 meters.
Lap 24: 81.6 for Ferrell (32:13) at the bell.
Lap 25: Ferrell sprints down the straightaway to win in 33:31.42 (77.4 lap), and Olympic Trials “B” Standard. Moody finishes 2nd in 33:53.21, also under the “B” standard, and Feest is 3rd in 34:00.73.
8:25 p.m. ? Men’s 10,000m
Mile 1: Rodriguez (Reebok) 4:35.9 mile has a 10m lead over large chase pack led by Stoutenburgh (Unatt.) and McNamara (LCC). Chase pack has 10 runners with 75m lead over rest of field.Mile 2: 9:12 at 2-miles for Rodriguez (4:36 mile); 50-meter lead over large chase pack, now with 8 runners, led by Jason Bill (Illinois) and Scott Wall (Oregon).
Mile 3:13:51.8 3-mile for Rodriguez (4:39 mile); still 60-meter lead back to chase pack, which is beginning to string out behind Wall (Oregon). Former Duck Eric Logsdon (Team XO) now in 2nd in chase pack, followed by McNamara (LCC).
Mile 4: Logsdon still leads chase pack, followed now by Jordan Horn (Cal St. Fullerton) as pack begins to string out more behind Logsdon. 18:30 4-mile for Rodriguez (4:38 mile), who now has a 100-meter lead over second place.
Mile 5: Horn and Logsdon begin to pull away from the chase pack as Wall drops off at lap 17. Scott Mueller (Marquette) breaks away from McNamara and chases Logsdon and Horn. Rodriguez is 23:15 at 5-miles (4:45 mile), Horn and Logsdon are now 20-meters behind.
Lap 21: Rodriguez 73.2 with 4 laps to go, Horn and Logsdon 10-meters behind.
Lap 22: 71.9 for Rodriguez with 3 laps to go, Horn and Logsdon ready to pass him. Horn moves to the lead around the Bowerman curve, and the 3 runners are now bunched up.
Lap 23: 69.9 for Horn with 800 meters to go. Logsdon passes Rodriguez to move into 2nd, Rodriguez begins to fade.
Lap 24: 68.4 for Horn at the bell, Logsdon in 2nd, Rodriguez 30-meters behind with 300 meters to go.
Lap 25: Logsdon tries to catch Horn around the Bowerman curve, but Horn sprints away for the win in 29:02.52. Logsdon 2nd in 29:03.58, Rodriguez finishes 3rd in 29:12.97.8:05 p.m. ? Men’s 5,000 Section Section 1
Lap 1: McGrath and Kiptoo-Biwot (Oregon) pacing, 1:02.6 first lap. 5m lead over rest of field.Lap 2: Aish (Nike) in 3rd behind the leading pace setters. 1:07.0 split as the field begins to catch the pacers.
Lap 3: Field strung out behind the rabbits. McGrath drops out as Kiptoo-Biwot splits at 1:05.7
Lap 4: Kiptoo-Biwot followed by Aish and Riley (Nike). Runners single file.
Lap 5: 1:04.0 split for Kiptoo-Biwot, 4:19 mile.
Lap 6: 5:25 2,00 meters. 1:05.3 split for Kiptoo-Biwot with a 5m lead. Rest of field reluctant to follow pace.
Lap 7: Riley moves up to second, Kiptoo drops off at 1:07 split. Riley takes over the lead followed by Omori (Shikoku), Solinsky (Wisconsin) and Rupp (Oregon)
Lap 8: 1:06 split for Riley. Nine runners in lead pack.
Lap 9: 8:47 2 mile 1:08.1 split for Riley, lead pack still bunched behind Riley. Asmerom (Unatt.) moves to lead, followed by Rupp.
Lap 10: 1:07.1 split for Asmerom and Rupp, leading the pack. Pack has a 15m lead over rest of field. Rupp takes over lead, followed by Omori. Solinsky passes Omori for second.
Lap 11: 1:02.9 split for Rupp as he and Solinsky break away from the pack. Rupp and Solinsky take a 5m lead over Aish with 2 laps to go. Solinsky moves to the lead on the backstretch.
Lap 12: 1:01.1 split as Solinsky and Rupp break away from the field approaching the bell. 12:28 at the bell for Solinsky, who begins to pull away from Rupp. Solinsky and Rupp down the straight away. Photo finish as Rupp passes Solinsky, who falls forward at the line. Rupp breaks a three-year-old personal best (13:30.49). Solinsky second with 13:30.54. Both are Olympic Trials ?A’ Qualifying standards. Asmerom in third (13:34.23) and Graham (OTC) 4th in 13:34.43 also both Olympic trials standard.
7:45 ? Women’s 5,000m Section 1
Lap 1: McGowan (Team XO), Metcalf (New Balance) pacing 1:11.2 split; Goucher (Nike) and Fleshman (Nike) together up front.Lap 2: McGowan 1:13.1 split; front four 15m lead over the rest of the pack.
Lap 3: McGowan 1:13.1 split, no changes in lead pack.
Lap 4: McGowan drops off, Metcalfe takes over lead. 1:13.2 split; 4:50 mile.
Lap 5: 1:13.8 split as Metcalfe drops off, Goucher and Fleshman 20m lead over Yoder-Begley (Nike)
Lap 6: 1:13 split for Goucher and Fleshman. No change in leaders
Lap 7: Fleshman takes over lead, 1:13.7 split.
Lap 8: 1:13.9 split for Goucher and Fleshman, 100m lead for the pair.
Lap 9: 1:13.6 split for Goucher and Fleshman, lapping the back of the field. Goucher takes over the lead.
Lap 10: 1:12.6 split for Goucher and Fleshman. 15:25 pace.
Lap 11: Goucher pulling away from Fleshman, 10m lead. 1:12.3 split for Goucher.
Lap 12: Goucher 14:03.5 at the Bell lap. 15m lead over Fleshman. Goucher wins the race in 15:16.81, Fleshman 2nd in 15:25.92. Both meet the USA ?A’ standard marks.
7:27 p.m. ? Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase Section 1
Lap 1: Rudkin (Team XO) leads; 1:21.2, followed by Lifferth (Utah State).Lap 2: Rudkin leads (1:18.8), 5-meter lead over Lifferth and MacGregor (Simon Fraser)
Lap 3: Rudkin still leads (1:20.0), 10-meter lead over Lifferth and MacGregor, another 10-meters to the chase pack.
Lap 4: Rudkin 15-meter lead now (1:21.0) over Lifferth and MacGregor.
Lap 5: Rudkin still leads (1:22.2), no changes behind her.
Lap 6: Rudkin 1:24.2, Lifferth begins to pull away from MacGregor.
Lap 7: Rudkin 8:57 at the bell lap, 15m lead over Lifferth. 1:24.2 split for Rudkin. Rudkin 1st place 10:17.25; Liffert 2nd Place 10:18.89. First eight finishers under regional qualifying time.
7:10 p.m. ? Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase Section 1 Lap 1: Kiauka (Unatt.) leads the first lap 1:08 splitLap 2: 1:10 split, Nowitzke (Eastern Wash.) into the lead over the water. Max King (OTC) in 2nd.
Lap 3: 1:07.8 split, King into the lead.
Lap 4: 1:06.6 split. King still in lead, Nowitzke in second, Nowill (Unatt.) in third.
Lap 5: 1:08.9 Split. No change in leaders (3m ahead).
Lap 6: 1:10.1 split. Top three same order.
Lap 7: Bell lap, Nowill takes lead at 7:31, Nowitzke in second, King in 3rd; 105.4 split. Nowill 5m lead into final straightaway. King passes Nowitzke on stretch for 2nd place. Nowill (1st): 8:33.57; King 8:34.78 (2nd); Nowitzke 8:35.10 (3rd)
6:55 p.m. ? Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase Section 2 Lap 1: Walker (Team Eugene) into the lead over the first water jump. 1:14.0 splitLap 2: 2:23.5 (800m) Walker and Silva (Kentucky) in lead; 1:09 split
Lap 3: 1:11 split; Silva in the lead of the pack.
Lap 4: Silva and Walker still lead
Lap 5: Bethky (Wisconsin) and Johnson (UO Running Club) take the lead. Lyber (Washington) into the lead on the front stretch.
Lap 6: Lyber and Bethky 7:14 with one lap to go.
Lap 7: Bell Lap 7:53, Bethky with a 10m lead over Bingham (Montana) and Lyber. Bethky extends lead to 25m after water jump. Bethky wins 8:58.04, followed by Liber 9:05.31 and Gasper (Wisconsin) 9:06.18. [All Regional Qualifiers]
6:45 p.m. ? Women’s 1,500 Section 2
Lap 1: Zoey Nelson (Oregon) paces first lap. 1:07.9 split. Buckman (Oregon) in second.
Lap 2: Nelson drops off, Buckman takes lead. 1:14.1 split for Buckman right in front of pack.
Lap 3: Stubbs (Weber State) and Buckman lead at the Bell Lap. 1:11 split.
Lap 4: Anderson Greg (Eugene H&S) and Peller (Marquette) move into lead on front stretch. Anderson wins event in 4:23.76; Peller 2nd 4:24.55; Stubbs 3rd 4:25.71. Buckman fades to fourth 4:25.97.
6:37 p.m. ? Women’s 1,500 Section 1Lap 1: Sarah Shoff (OTC) pacesetter, Metcalf (New Balance) 1:08.8 split
Lap 2: 2:17.5 800m; 1:08.6 split; Schoff drops out, Metcalf takes lead, McGowen (Team XO) into second.
Lap 3: Bell Lap 3:08; 1:07.8 split for Metcalf. Teeter (OTC) moves into second.
Lap 4: Teeter moves past Metcalf on the final curve and wins race in 4:14.83, Metcalf in second 4:16.28. Both 2007 USA ?A’ Standards.
6:30 p.m. ? Men’s 1,500 Section 1
Lap 1: Jaworski (OTC) pacing the race; split 59.5 with a tight pack
Lap 2: Jaworski followed by Pifer (Colorado) 2:00.3 800m, 1:01.8 split
Lap 3: 2:44 Bell lap, still Jaworski followed by Pifer. Jaworski drops off, Pifer leads 58.4 split.
Lap 4: Acosta (Oregon) charge off the last curve, into 2nd. Pifer takes the race, with 3:41.77. Acosta 2nd 3:42.40 (Personal Best [Prev 3:45]). Miller (Wisconsin) 3rd 3:42.67.
6:22 p.m. - Men’s 1,500m Section 2
Lap 1: Jefferson (OTC) pace setter :59.4 split followed by Cronin (Team XO)
Lap 2: 1:01 split for Jefferson, Olson (Weber State) into second.
Lap 3: 2:46 Bell Lap; Olson takes lead as Jefferson drops off; 1:00 split
Lap 4: Olson drops back as Richardson (Kentucky) and Wheating (Oregon) go into lead.
Richardson in 1st at 3:44.80; Wheating 3:45.17 in 2nd Olson 3:45.59. Top eight all record regional qualifiers.
6:15 p.m. ? Men’s 1,500m Section 3
Lap 1: Elliot (OTC) and Hatch (OTC) leads :56.2 split for first lap
Lap 2: Elliot, Hatch, and Schmitz (Marquette) breaks away from pack 10m lead. Hatch drops out as pacer.
Lap 3: Elliot and Schmitz 15m lead as they come to the bell lap
Lap 4: Bell Lap 2:44 for Elliot who leads. 5m lead over Schmitz. Elliot drops off as pacer at 1,200 (3:00), Schmitz caught by pack, passed by Lorenz (Unatt.) Schilling (NDSU), Shepard (Weber St.). Lorenz wins in 3:48.31, 3:48.84 Schilling 2nd, 3:49.0 Shepard in 3rd.
6:00 p.m. ? Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase Section 3
Lap 1: Beck (AF) leads over first water jump.
Lap 2: 2:23 800 m., Beck, Peach (Humboldt St.) up front of pack
Lap 3: 1:13 split for Beck, who leads
Lap 4: 1:14 split for Shadrack Too (Wyoming), now in lead.
Lap 5: Beck takes back lead on the backstretch, :74 split for Too and Beck, battling for lead
Lap 6: Brancheau (Western Wash.) into the lead; 1:14 split as Brancheau leads through water jump
Lap 7: Bell lap Brancheau, Thompson (Idaho); Powers (UCSB into lead over last water jump; outkicks Thompson and Brancheau for the win. Powers wins in 9:11.36, Thompson 2nd in 9:12.15; Brancheau in 3rd with 9:12.29.
