Wall Wins Penn Relays 5,000m

PHILADELPHIA ? University of Oregon junior Scott Wall opened action for the Ducks in the Penn Relays with a win in the 5,000m championship section Thursday.
The Portland, Ore., native won the event by two seconds (13:57.64) over Mark Steeds of Georgia State (second, 13:59.64) and Jordan McDougal of Liberty (third, 14:00.14).
Wall’s mark Friday easily met the regional mark of 14:12.00 for the second time this year, and improved on his former personal best (14:08.19) that came in the Stanford Invitational at the end of March.
Junior A.J. Casteel also ran the collegiate section of the 3,000m steeplechase (18th, 10:02.06).

Looking ahead to action in the event Friday, a men’s distance medley relay of A.J. Acosta, Marcus Dillon, Michael McGrath and Andrew Wheating is set to compete, while the Ducks will enter a 4xmile relay Saturday.
