Gallardo and Verdasco Fall in Quarterfinals of Pac-10 Tourney

Ojai, Calif. -- Francisco Gallardo and Marcos Verdasco advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Doubles Championships before falling to Arizona State's Matt Brooklyn and Wes Miller, 9-8 (4) Friday afternoon.
The pair won their first match against California's Dejan Cvetkovic and Gary Sacks, 9-7. The Golden Bear pair was ranked as the No. 60 doubles team in the nation heading into the match.
Unfortunately, the first round victory for Gallardo and Verdasco would be the only one for Oregon on the day.
In the Ducks' other championship bracket mach, the pair of Alexander Cornelissen and Geoff Embry were defeated by the No. 10 ranked pair of Phillip Gruendler and Ben Kohlloeffel from UCLA, 8-4.
On the invitational side, senior Eric Pickard and Stephen Wiechert battled in the closest match of the day for the Ducks, but they would ultimately fall, 9-8, to Washington's Derek Drabble and Andy Kuharszky.
Both of Oregon's other pairs in the invitational draw would fall by identical 8-4 scores.
