Twilight Mile Added to Twilight Meet Schedule
EUGENE - The University of Oregon track and field program welcomes back a fan favorite - the Twilight Mile - to Saturday's track and field regular season finale at Hayward Field, the Oregon Twilight.
Since 1966, the Twilight Mile has often been the meet's featured event and has been run 39 times. In 19 of those races, the four-minute mark has been broken an amazing 53 times by 38 different runners.
Saturday's race is scheduled for a 7:27 p.m. start and tentatively features several of the nation's top post-collegians, including Nike Olympians Dan Browne and Adam Goucher and USA Championships veterans Kevin Elliott, Sean Jefferson and Max King of the Oregon Track Club elite program.
Sophomores Duke Wasteney and James Withers are Duck entries with and unattached entrant Joaquin Chapa.
Overall, the meet starts with the women's discus at 3:02 p.m. The first running event - the women's 5,000m begins at 3:15 p.m. - and the event concludes with an elite men's 5,000m that starts at 7:40 p.m.
