Sophomore Sensations Myrhed, Seremeta Named First Team All Pac-10 Academic

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Mike Myrhed and Carmen Seremeta have both been named to the Pac-10 All Academic First Team, leading the group of six Ducks named to the conference All-Academic Teams, announced Friday by commissioner Tom Hansen.
Seremeta heads the list of women's tennis student-athletes as four of its six members were honored by the conference, as Ana Cecilia Olivos was named to the second team and senior Dominika Dieskova as well as sophomore Claudia Hirt were given honorable mention.
One of the Ducks young nucleus, the sophomore Seremeta currently carries a 3.68 GPA, not yet having declared a major. The Cardiff, Calif. native compiled a 19-17 record in 2007, including a tournament championship in the Duck Classic. Olivos, also an undeclared sophomore, claimed her place on the second team with a 3.46 GPA.
Dieskova and Hirt round out the women's selections, as the senior Dieskova has compiled a 3.23 GPA while carrying two majors, international studies and spanish, as well as a minor in business administration.
Hirt finishes her sophomore year carrying a 3.31 GPA, having not yet declared a major. The Swiss import had won four of her last six matches and had a 14-12 record before an ankle injury sidelined her for the end of the season.
On the men's side, Myrhed, a sophomore from Stockholm, Sweden, was selected to the first team as he carries a 3.82 GPA, second highest of the players honored, in pre-business administration. One of only two Duck starters that are not freshman, Myrhed finished 2007 with a 17-16 overall record.
Senior Eric Pickard was named honorable mention as he ends his career at Oregon with a 3.03 GPA and will graduate with a degree in history.
