Hildahl in 10th in OGA Day 1
PORTLAND, Ore. ? University of Oregon freshman Kate Hildahl stood tied for 10th place after the first day of the 98th Oregon Golf Amateur Championship Monday, hosted by Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
The Tualatin, Ore., native shot an 80 on the par-72, 5,991-yard course in the first of two days of stroke play. She carded one birdie on the par-4 second hole and added par scores on nine holes, including five straight on the back nine on the 13th ? 17th holes.
Overall, former Duck coach Lara Tennant led the field by two strokes with her 2-over 74 Monday. Three players followed in a tie for second at 76 ? Tracy Broders, Mary Budke and Marcie Hoover.

This past collegiate season, Hildahl played 10 events for the Ducks and led the squad in four of her final 11 rounds of the spring, and averaged an 80.0 score in her 26 rounds of play, including two, 1-over 73’s. She registered two, top-30 efforts in the spring in the Baja Classic (29th-tie, 157) and Duck Invitational (21st-tie, 237).
Second day and final day stroke play qualifying action continues Tuesday.
On the men’s side, three players shot a 3-under 68 to lead first round action on the same course Monday morning - Bill Winter, Alex Stamey and Vincent Johnson. Tim Rouillard, husband of Oregon women’s golf coach Shannon Rouillard, followed four strokes back in a tie for 10th place with a 1-over 72 on the 6,673 course.
