NCAA Football 2008 Simulation: Week 1 - University of Oregon Athletics

Dennis Dixon passed for 111 yards and finished the game off with a 47 yard TD run as the Oregon Ducks defeated the Houston Cougars 20-14 in this week’s NCAA Football 2008 Simulation by EA Sports.

The game could only be characterized with big time playmaking as the Ducks were able to score 14 unanswered 4^th Quarter points for the come from behind victory.

The Ducks took an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter with a 24 yard Field Goal by kicker Matt Evensen. But a 63 yard Touchdown by Houston gave the Cougars the lead 7-3 going into the half.

The second half started out slow with only the Ducks scoring on another Field Goal by Matt Evensen. The 4^th quarter however will be something to remember. The Cougars were able to quickly drive down the field and score on 22 yard TD run by Anthony Alridge to go up 14-6 with 4:16 remaining.

After the Ducks’ offense was unable to produce the Oregon defense kept the Ducks in the game by stopping the Cougars on 2 consecutive possessions. Cameron Colvin was then able to beat his man around the corner to score a 53 yard TD pass. With a chance to tie the game on a 2-point conversion, Dixon handed the ball off to Jonathan Stewart who was stopped by the Cougar line.

After failing to recover the onside kick, the defense stopped the Cougars on 4 straight plays giving Dennis Dixon and the Ducks offense one last chance with 0:15 left in the game. After a quick pass over the middle, the Ducks quickly ran up to the ball; catching the Cougar’s defense off guard. Dennis Dixon quickly snapped the ball and scrambled down the right side of the field for a 47 yard TD run to capture the victory for the Ducks, 20-14.
