Jaison Williams 7 receptions for 160 yards and 1 touchdown carried the Oregon Ducks as they upset the Michigan Wolverines 21-10 in this week’s NCAA Football 2008 Simulation by EA Sports.
Michigan was the first to put points on the board with an amazing one-handed catch by Mario Manningham in the back of the end zone to go up 7-0. The Ducks were able to respond on their next possession with a wide receive screen to Jaison Williams for a 37 yard touchdown to tie the game.
Entering the second half, and the weather starting to play more of a factor. Both teams tired to establish the run and control the game. Michigan was then able to regain the lead 10-7 on a 36 yard field goal by Ben Wright.
As the Ducks offense drove the length of the field, it was 1st and Goal from the 1. Dixon’s attempt with a quick slant into the end zone almost cost them the game as the pass was nearly intercepted by Michigan. The Ducks made sure they took advantage of Michigan’s mistake by handing the ball off to Jonathan Stewart for the touchdown, taking the lead for the first time 14-10 with 2:48 left in the game.
With the always dangerous Michigan offense on the ball, and the Ducks defense needing to make a stop, Michigan Quarterback Chad Henne’s pass was intercepted down the sideline by the Ducks. With Dixon and Stewart running the clock down, Dixon was able to scramble 37 yards for the touchdown to clinch the upset 21-10 and on to victory urge the heroes of our mighty Oregon!
