Oregon Sports Network Announces 12-Game Basketball Schedule
EUGENE, Ore. ? The Oregon Sports Network on Thursday announced its 12-game men’s basketball schedule that will be shown exclusively on Comcast Sports Net Northwest during the 2008-09 season. Five of the 12 games selected will be against teams that made the 2008 NCAA Tournament: Arizona, USC, Stanford, Saint Mary’s and San Diego. OSN also released the first two women’s games of its 2008-09 slate.
The Ducks will be heavily featured on CSNNW (Comcast Channel 37 locally) during the months of November and December.
OSN will be live for the first two games of the 2008-09 season, Nov. 14 versus Northern Colorado and Nov. 17 against Oakland, as Oregon coach Ernie Kent attempts to pass Basketball Hall of Famer Howard Hobson as the University’s all-time winningest coach. Kent, entering his 12th season, has 211 wins as head coach of the Ducks. Hobson, who coached Oregon from 1936-47 and led the "Tall Firs" to the 1939 NCAA Championship, was 212-124 during his tenure.
Five of Oregon’s six December games will be shown on CSNNW, beginning with Utah in Salt Lake City on Dec. 3 and continuing through the Pape’ Jam versus San Diego (Dec. 13), Saint Mary’s (Dec. 17), Portland (Dec. 20) and Long Beach State (Dec. 29). December will also feature two Oregon women’s games, Georgia Tech in the Pape’ Jam on Dec. 13 and versus Baylor on Dec. 20. Both will be doubleheaders with men’s games.
The Dec. 29 game versus Long Beach State marks the first time 49ers head coach Dan Monson will bring a team into McArthur Court. Monson’s father, Don Monson was Oregon’s head coach from 1984-92.
OSN on CSNNW will also show five Pac-10 games, including Jan. 2 versus USC, Jan. 8 at Arizona, Jan. 24 at California, Feb. 19 versus California and Feb. 21 against Stanford.
Additionally, OSN may pick up games at USC on March 5 and UCLA on March 7 if they are not selected as "wildcard" games for the Pac-10’s television package. Those selections will be made in mid-February.
