Ducks Wrestling Conquer Vikings, 33-10

PORTLAND ? The University of Oregon wrestling team won its penultimate regular season match Wednesday night, 33-10, over Portland State at Stott Gymnasium
UO (10-12, 1-8) won five of the eight matches it wrestled and added wins by forfeit at the two lowest weight classes (125 and 133 pounds) since PSU did not have any entries.
Duck redshirt freshman heavyweight Charlie Alexander staked his second win by fall this year with a decision at 2:24 in the evening finale. Alexander’s win was his 22nd overall this season and raised his dual record to a team-best 18-3.
Sophomore Zack Frazier added four points to the Duck column with his third technical fall of the year with his 20-5 triumph at 165 pounds over Jordan Toney. Wednesday was the third time this season that the Gresham, Ore., native Frazier scored +20 points and registered a technical fall over Pac-10 opponents after he beat both Toney, 26-11, and Daniel Atondo of Cal State Bakersfield, 20-5, at the Reno Tournament of Champions in mid-December.
Redshirt senior Elliott Tracy posted his first major decision of the campaign by a 22-8 margin over 149-pounder Alan Dickey. Tracy’s score was a season high and bettered his previous best of 11 points in his 11-9 win over Mike Bell of Duke last November.
Other Duck winners included redshirt sophomore Kyle Bounds (157, 12-7) and redshirt junior Shaun Dee (197, 10-6 OT). Their wins gave them their eighth and 12th wins of the season, respectively.
For Portland State (1-11, 0-8), its three wins came at 141, 174 and 184 pounds. The Vikings' Greg Einerson (141) beat UO redshirt sophomore Duke Wasteney, 6-1, in the latter’s collegiate debut; Daley Seley topped Duck redshirt sophomore Ron Lee, 12-6; and Jacob Antoine scored a major decision over UO senior Marcus Myers, 12-2.
Looking ahead, the Ducks wrap up their regular season at Oregon State (9-8, 6-3), Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
In last December’s edition of the Civil War Brought to You by Your Northwest Dodge Dealers, OSU beat UO at McArthur Court, 23-14, with four Ducks winning matches ? Dunn, sophomores Ron Lee (174) and Brysen French (184) and redshirt freshman Charlie Alexander (heavyweight).
Afterwards, the Pac-10 Championships return to Mac Court, Sunday-Monday, March 2-3, and all-session tickets are available by calling the Duck ticket office (1-800-WEB-FOOT, (541) 346-4461 locally).
