Men's Tennis Hits The Road Again

EUGENE, Ore. --The University of Oregon men’s tennis team will takes its 4-3 record to Albuquerque, N.M. this weekend for their second consecutive weekend of road matches. The Ducks will play Northern Arizona Friday, February 15 at 1 p.m., and then New Mexico Saturday, February 16 at 6 p.m. Both matches will be played in Albuquerque.

QUICK HITS
The Ducks bounced back from consecutive losses to earn a split in Fresno last weekend, moving their record to 4-3 on the season.
After finishing a combined 23-46 last season in doubles action, Oregon has a 15-6 doubles record so far in 2008. Oregon has swept the doubles point three times, and won it in five of seven matches.
The pairing of Alexander Cornelissen and Mike Myrhed won both their matches last weekend, improving their record to 6-0 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
The bottom three spots in singles played to a 3-3 record last weekend. On the season, the 4-6 singles spots hold a 15-6 record, while the record at the top three positions is 7-14.
The Ducks lost two out of the three matches that went to three sets last weekend in Fresno. Oregon’s record in three set matches on the season is 3-6.
Oregon is in the midst of a six game road trip, with the time in between home matches spanning 26 days. Last spring, Oregon went through a 35 day stretch without playing in Eugene from February 11th to March 17th.
GETTING TO KNOW NORTHERN ARIZONA
Northern Arizona holds a 1-5 record on the season. In their last outing, Feb. 10 against Idaho, they dropped a 5-2 decision in Las Cruces, N.M. Their lone win on the season came Feb. 8 against Utah State, a 4-3 victory, also played in Las Cruces.
GETTING TO KNOW NEW MEXICO
Oregon will be one of three opponents that New Mexico (2-3) hosts this weekend, the other two being Northern Arizona and No. 65 Denver. Last Saturday, they defeated No. 50 Middle Tennessee 4-3 to put an end to a three match losing streak.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
New Mexico is currently ranked as the No. 49 team in the nation, the highest ranked team the Ducks have faced this season. Currently seven teams from the Pacific-10 conference are ranked; No. 6 USC, No. 8 UCLA, No. 28 Cal, No. 36 Washington, No. 37 Arizona State, No. 40 Stanford, and No. 69 Arizona.

LOOKING AHEAD
Up next for the Ducks will be a trip to California on Feb. 23-24, where they will play UC Irivine and UC Santa Barbara in Irvine, Calif., and Santa Barbara, Calif., respectively. The two matches will end Oregon’s nearly month long road trip.
The Ducks return to the Student Tennis Center for their Pac-10 opener on Friday, Feb. 29, hosting the University of Washington.
