Quartet Stake Wins in Civil War Rematch

CORVALLIS, Ore. ? The University of Oregon wrestling team wrapped up its regular season Sunday with a hard fought 22-13 loss at Gill Coliseum in the year’s final installment of the Civil War Brought to You by Your Northwest Dodge Dealers.
Oregon (10-13, 1-9) tallied points from its wins at 125, 133, 157 and 165 pounds, but lost its other six matches.
After OSU won the opening three matches at 184, 197 and 285 pounds, UO 125-pound redshirt senior Joey Lucas got the Ducks on the scoreboard with his 6-1 victory over Jake Gonzalez.
At 133 pounds, redshirt junior Ryan Dunn added a major decision over Clifton Ivanoff by an 18-8 count to draw UO within 10-7.
However, OSU answered with wins by decision at 141 and 149 pounds to go back up, 16-7.
UO’s middle weights provided its final two wins of the night as redshirt sophomore 157-pounder Kyle Bounds, ranked fourth in the Pac-10 rankings, won 12-6 over Dan Brascetta. Immediately after, sophomore Zack Frazier earned revenge over Keegan Davis with a 7-4 win and avenged a 14-4 loss in December to the same opponent who was ranked one spot higher in this week’s league rankings at fifth.
UO’s wins Sunday left its four victors with the following overall season records ? Lucas (8-8), Dunn (20-6), Bounds (8-12) and Frazier (17-12).
Other Ducks that wrestled Sunday but lost included seniors Elliott Tracy (149, 12-6), Marcus Myers (184, major decision, 16-5) and Shaun Dee (197, 5-3), redshirt junior Cody Moulton (141, 9-5), redshirt sophomore Ron Lee (165, 7-4) and redshirt freshman Charlie Alexander (285, 5-2).
