Hildahl Leads Golfers in Spring Opener

GAINESVILLE, Fla. ? University of Oregon sophomore Kate Hildahl led the Duck women’s golf team and stood 35th overall Friday in first day action in the Lady Gator Invitational.
Hildahl shot 77 on the par 70, 5,907-yard Mark Bostick course and led the team for the second time in her 13th round of the 2007-08 slate.
Other Duck entries included junior Cathryn Bristow (59th-t, 80), freshman Erica Omlid (66th-t, 81), sophomore Felicia Eastick (73rd-t, 83) and freshman Kendra Little (79th-t, 85), and junior Blair Ressler who played as an individual (81th-t, 88).
As a team, the No. 47-ranked Ducks stood in 15th place with their first round 321 Friday.
Overall, the host school, No.5 Florida, led the 15-team field (280) by 10 strokes, and was trailed by No. 26 Louisville (second, 290), No. 34 North Carolina (third, 292), Ole Miss (fourth, 293), No. 36 Georgia State (fifth, 299), No. 17 Wake Forest (sixth, 301) and No. 46 Augusta State (seventh, 305).
Other teams that played Friday included South Florida (eighth, 306), UT Chattanooga (ninth, 308), Florida International (10th, 310), North Carolina-Greensboro (11th-tie, 312), Colorado (11th-tie, 312), Kentucky (13th, 313), Florida Atlantic (14th, 320) and No. 47 Oregon (15th, 321).
North Carolina’s Sydney Crane led the field by three strokes with her four-under 66, and was followed by Tiffany Chudy of Florida (second-tie, 69) and Cindy LaCrosse of Louisville (second-tie, 69), and two others were tied for fourth at 70.
