May Named MPSF Tri-Player of the Week

Woodland, Calif. ? In an unusual tri-player of the week in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, California senior Danni Zuralow (Fairfax, VA), Oregon senior Jen May (Davidsonville, MD), and Denver junior Steph Coyne (Baltimore, MD) were each honored by the conference for remarkable efforts and victories.
Zuralow scored a game and career-high five goals vs. rival Stanford in an 11-9 win, while Coyne tied her career-high of eight points on
five goals and three assists in a win over Stony Brook.
May led Oregon to an undefeated 2-0 trip to the East Coast this weekend. The Ducks first edged Virginia Tech on Friday night, 14-13. May scored two goals and added an assist in that game, while also totaling two ground balls and one draw control. During the game with Hokies, Oregon scored five of the last seven goals of the game to secure the victory. During that stretch, May contributed one goal while assisting on another.
In the Ducks’ upset of 18th-ranked Richmond on Sunday, May had two goals, one assist, five ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover. May played a hand in two of Oregon’s first three goals against the Spiders, assisting on the Ducks’ first goal, and scoring the third. She then scored with 29 seconds left in the first half.
On the weekend, May tallied six points on four goals and two assists. She led the field players with seven ground balls, while adding three draw controls and one caused turnover.
After playing their first four games of the season on the road, Oregon will return to Eugene for its home opener, hosting LeMoyne at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Pape’ Field. The game will be a BI-Mart Family Day. Fans can show their BI-Mart card at the gate and two adults and unlimited children can gain entrance for $10.
