Trio Hold Top Four Rankings in Final Poll
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ? In anticipation of this weekend’s Pac-10 Wrestling Championships in Eugene, three Ducks held onto their top-four rankings in Wednesday’s eighth and final edition of the Pacific-10 Conference wrestling rankings.
Redshirt freshman Charlie Alexander (heavyweight) climbed a spot to third, and redshirt junior Ryan Dunn (133, fourth) and redshirt sophomore Kyle Bounds (157, fourth) held steady at their prior positions.
All seven of the other Ducks remained at the same rankings as last week ?seniors Joey Lucas (125, sixth), Elliott Tracy (eighth, 149) and Marcus Myers (184, 10th), redshirt juniors Shaun Dee (197, eighth) and Cody Moulton (141, eighth) and sophomores Zack Frazier (165, fifth) and Ron Lee (sixth, 174)
Overall, nine of the 10 top seeds remained the same from last week. Boise State heavyweight and junior Nick Smith was the only a new leader after an injury to Cal State Fullerton junior Wade Sauer who ranked fourth nationally last week.
The list of other returning weight class leaders follows: senior Tanner Gardner, Stanford (125), junior T.J. Dillashaw, Cal State Fullerton (133), senior Chad Mendes, Cal Poly (141), senior Morgan Atkinson, Cal State Fullerton (149), junior Tyler Sherfey, Boise State (157), senior Patrick Pitsch, Arizona State (165), sophomore Nate Lee, Boise State (174), senior Ian Murphy, Cal State Fullerton (184) and senior Jason Trulson, Arizona State (197).
