Van den Berg Named Co-MPSF Player of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon junior attacker Ilsa van den Berg was named co-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday.
Van den Berg scored five goals with one assist during the Ducks’ 14-13 upset of No. 11 Notre Dame last Thursday in San Diego, knocking home the game winner with three seconds left. She added a goal and assist in last Saturday’s 10-9 win over Temple, and currently leads Oregon with 22 points on the year (17 goals, five assists).
Van den Berg shares the award with Stanford’s Daphne Patterson, who also tallied six goals last week. Patterson scored three goals including one with 12 seconds left in the Cardinal’s shocker over No. 5 Penn, 10-8.
Oregon is currently ranked 18th in the nation and is off to its best start in program history with a record of 6-1. On a six-game winning streak, the Ducks will put that stretch up to the test on Tuesday, hosting seventh-ranked North Carolina at 7 p.m. under the lights of Pape’ Field.
Fans who wear a yellow T-shirt to the game will receive a $1 off the price of admission.
The Tar Heels are the third top-20 team Oregon has faced this season. Currently Oregon is 2-0 against ranked opponents in 2008.
