Bristow Moves Into Tie for UNLV Invite Lead

LAS VEGAS ? University of Oregon junior Cathryn Bristow climbed into the lead Tuesday after the second day of the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational, held at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in nearby Boulder City, Nev.
With her second straight round of 69, the Huapai, New Zealand native Bristow improved a position and is now in a two-way tie at 138 with first-day leader Kelly Nakashima of Idaho (68-70).
Freshman Kendra Little also ranked top 25 overall (21st-tie, 72-74-146), and UO’s other two scorers were sophomore Felicia Eastick (34th-tie, 75-74-149) and freshman Erica Omlid (46th-tie, 76-75-151). Oregon’s other entrant was sophomore Kate Hildahl (51st-tie, 78-74-152).
As a team, the No. 49-ranked Ducks counted four scores of 74 or better (69 and three 74’s) Tuesday for a team score of 291 - their lowest tally of the year and one better than Monday’s count of 292.
No. 55 Washington State moved into the lead at the end of day two (285-289-574), and stood three strokes ahead of No. 35 BYU (second, 293-284-577). No. 48 Texas Tech followed in third place (292-286-578), ahead of No. 51 San Francisco (fourth, 291-290-581) and No. 49 Oregon (fifth, 292-291-583).
Other teams in the field included first day leader and No. 54 UNLV (sixth, 284-303-586), Campbell (seventh-tie, 297-293-590), Idaho (seventh-tie, 297-293-592), No. 52 Washington (seventh-tie, 293-297-590), No. 52 UC Davis (seventh-tie, 296-294-590), Indiana (11th-tie, 295-299-594), Fresno State (11th-tie, 301-293-595), Colorado State (13th, 304-294-598), Sacramento State (14th, 299-301-600), New Mexico State (15th, 305-302-607), Kansas State (16th, 311-301-612), Long Beach State (17th, 321-309-630) and Eastern Washington (18th, 322-315-637).
Looking ahead, the Ducks return for third and final round action Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
