Oregon Honors 'Chap' At Annual Banquet

The Oregon women's basketball team celebrated its 2007-08 season Saturday night with its annual banquet. Over 180 fans, friends and family of the program were in attendance.
Former Oregon women's basketball player Peg Rees emceed the event which included speeches from UO Athletics Director Pat Kilkenny and head coach Bev Smith.
For the second straight year, sophomore Mary Sbrissa was recognized with the Harry Ritchie Scholar-Athlete Award. Sbrissa, as well as Micaela Cocks, Taylor Lilley and Kaela Chapdelaine received scholar-athlete awards from the athletic department.
Freshman forward Ellie Manou was named the year's Most Improved Player. The native of Sydney, Australia averaged 7.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, and posted her first double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) during the Ducks' 66-45 victory over Washington State at the Pac-10 Tournament.
Lilley was voted the 2007-08 Most Valuable Player after leading the team averaging 12.7 points per game as well as leading the Pac-10 averaging 2.38 three-pointers per game. The Newhall, Calif., native was named to the all-Pac-10 third team as well as the Pac-10 all-tournament team.
The evening closed with a tribute to fifth-year senior guard Kaela Chapdelaine, who was also named the season's Best Defensive Player for the second year in a row.
Chapdelaine leaves Oregon having played in 122 games (third in program history), as well as sinking 111 career three-pointers (seventh in program history) and dishing 362 assists (seventh in program history).
