The Oregon men’s tennis program inked its first 2008-09 recruit to a national letter of intent with the signing of Sho Higuchi, it was announced today by Director of Tennis Nils Schyllander.
A native of Tokyo, Higuchi has spent the last three years at the International Tennis Academy in Delray, Fla.
"We welcome Sho to the Duck family,” Scyllander said. “He has a tremendous work ethic, is extremely fast and has the desire to succeed at the highest level. He is going to be a great Duck."
In 2007, Higuchi won the Florida state high school singles championship playing for Heritage High School in Delray.
Before moving to Florida, he was the ninth-ranked junior tennis player in Japan.
The Oregon men’s tennis team has one more week of regular season action remaining. The team heads to Washington on Saturday to play the Huskies.
