The Ducks have a 1-4 record in those games.
SERIES HISTORY
Oregon and Vermont have met one another each of the last two years, with the Ducks holding a 2-0 advantage in the series. Oregon defeated the Catamounts 15-7 in Burlington, Vt. on April 4, 2006, and the Ducks got the best of Vermont, 20-12, in Eugene on March 12, 2007.
This will be the first meeting for Oregon and New Hampshire.
VERMONT TIDBITS
Vermont enters Friday’s game with an even overall record of 7-7. The Catamounts are also on a two-game losing streak, dropping an 8-6 decision to then 17th-ranked Stanford, and most recently a 12-11 loss at Boston College on Wednesday.
The Catamounts are led by a quartet of goal scorers. Kristen Miller leads the way with 31 gaols and 22 assists, followed by Sara Buxton (25 g, 6 a), Megan MacDonald (22 g, 6 a) and Alison Haigh (21 g, 7 a).
NEW HAMPSHIRE TIDBITS
Currently ranked at No. 15 in the nation, New Hampshire holds an 11-4 record. The Wildcats are averaging 11.87 goals per game, led by Michaela Hardy. A starter in all 15 games this season, Hardy leads the team with 42 goals and five assists.
The Wildcats recently snapped what was a two-game losing streak with a 17-7 victory over Albany on Wednesday.
SENIOR DAY
Oregon’s first-ever senior class played its final game at Pape’ Field last Sunday, with a crushing 20-3 victory over Saint Mary’s. The Ducks held the Gaels scoreless in the second half, as Oregon set a new record for margin of victory (17).
The Ducks’ 20 goals scored were the most put in the nest this season, as six of the class’ eight seniors were able to score. Lindsay Killian, Jen May and Jana Bradley were each able to pick up hat tricks, while Jenny Browne, Theresa Waldron and Liora Lobel also found the net.
In addition to setting a new record for margin of victory, Oregon tied the record for most shots taken in a game with 45.
LOOKING AHEAD
While 2008 isn’t even completed yet, the Ducks inked 16 signees for the 2009 class in November. The new class will usher in the second era of Oregon lacrosse, as this year’s senior class departs after playing four years since the inaugural 2005 season. The new class has representatives from seven different states, led by Maryland (4) and California (4).
“We are thrilled to welcome this dynamic group of student athletes into our program and anxious to continue building on our solid foundation for the Oregon lacrosse program” head coach Jen Larsen said. “This class brings in a wealth of experience from all across the country and will continue our quest to national excellence on the field and in the classroom.”
