Bristow & Eastick Lead UO in Hoosier Day 1
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. ? In the opening day of its regular season finale, the No. 44 University of Oregon women’s golf team stood in ninth place after the first two rounds of the Indiana Invitational Monday.
The Ducks carded opening rounds of 306 and 304 on the par 72, 5,938-yard Crooked Stick Golf Course.
Overall in the team standings, No. 6 Purdue (first, 279-282-561) raced out to a 29-stroke lead in the 15-team tournament that features six top-50 squads.
No. 49 UNLV followed in second place (299-291-590), ahead of No. 36 Ohio State (third, 295-300-595), Illinois (fourth, 294-307-601), No. 50 Indiana (fifth-tie, 300-302-602) and No. 28 Texas (fifth-tie, 302-300-602).
Individually for UO, junior Cathryn Bristow and sophomore Felicia Eastick were the top Ducks in the overall standings and were tied for 17th place at 150. Eastick paced UO in the first round (74) and came back with a 76 second round, while Bristow’s scores were 76-74.
Bristow has led UO in four of her last five rounds and 11 altogether in 29 this season, and Eastick’s low Duck score was her seventh of 2007-08.
Freshman Kendra Little (32nd-tie, 80-73-153) claimed UO’s low second round Monday ? her 12th of the campaign ? and other Duck entries included sophomore Kate Hildahl (52nd-tie, 78-81-159) and junior Blair Ressler (58th-tie, 78-82-160).
Freshman Erica Omlid also played Monday as an individual (49th-tie, 76-81-157) and ranked fourth among all Ducks in the overall standings.
On the individual leaderboard, the Boilermakers owned the top three positions and four of the top five spots overall, courtesy of Junthima Gulyanamitta (first, 67-68-135), Maria Hernandez (second, 72-69-141), Christel Boeljon (third-tie, 71-71-142) and Maude-Aimee Leblanc (fifth, 69-74-143).
