Soccer Wraps Spring with 1-0 Win Against Seattle U.

EUGENE, Ore. ? Teresa Bowns converted a penalty kick early in the second half as Oregon defeated Seattle University 1-0 in the women’s soccer team’s final spring exhibition game Saturday at Pape’ Field.
After a scoreless first half, Seattle was whistled for a foul inside its own penalty box on an Oregon corner kick. The Ducks were awarded a penalty shot and Bowns converted with a low roller into the right side of the net 3:16 into the second period.
Bowns, a junior from Redmond, Wash., led Oregon with six shots. Senior Jessica Goodell had four attempts for the Ducks, while sophomore Bree Rowe added three.
Oregon outshot the Redhawks 16-3.
Senior goalkeeper Jessie Chatfield made one save, while Seattle’s Whitney Knox made three stops.
The Ducks had a couple of other good chances to put goals on the board. With just seconds remaining in the first half, Dani Oster passed the ball in from the side to Bowns, who flicked the ball toward the Seattle goal, but Knox made a diving save to keep the game scoreless at the half.
Late in the second half, Rowe had a great look at a header to the far post from about six yards out, but her attempt faded just to the left of the upright.
GAME NOTES: Teams played 40 minute halves, as opposed to a regulation 45 minute period. SO midfielders Rianna Mansfield and MacKenzie Doty saw action in a collegiate game at Pape’ Field for the first time since missing last season with injuries. Mansfield started, while Doty entered the game as a second half substitute.
