Blood, Wheating Earn Pac-10 Honors
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Oregon 1,500 meter runners Nicole Blood and Andrew Wheating have been named Pac-10 women's and men's track athletes of the week, the conference announced Monday.
Blood, a sophomore from Simi Calif., was the top collegian (third overall) in the women's 1,500 meters at Friday's Oregon Twilight Meet in a time of 4:14.73. That time leads the Pac-10 and ranks second nationally. That time also ranks fourth on Oregon's career top-10.
Wheating, a sophomore from Norwich, Vt., won the men's 1,500 meters at the Twilight Meet in a time of 3:38.60. That time is the best in the nation this season (all levels) and also ranks sixth on Oregon's career top-10.
Both Blood's and Wheating's times met the Olympic Trials "A" standards.
