Little Takes Eighth in U.S. Women's Open Qualifier

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - University of Oregon freshman Kendra Little shot a 4-over 76 Monday to tie for eighth in the U.S. Women’s Open Qualifier, held at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club.
The Eugene, Ore., native Little carded birdies on the first, 11th, 14th and 15th holes, bogeyed the second, fifth, sixth, 13th, 16th and 18th holes, doubley-bogeyed the eighth hole, and parred the other seven holes.
Also playing in the event were UO junior Blair Ressler (21st-tie, 81) and former Ducks Heather Holte (26th-tie, 82) and Kim McCready (36th-tie, 85).
Overall on the leaderboard, Erynne Lee led the field with a 1-under 71, and three players followed in a tie for second place with a 2-over 74 ? Jeannine Fiorito, Amy Eneroth and Sue Kim.

Monday’s event served as an initial qualifier for various sectionals that will determine the field for the U.S. Women’s Open, set for the Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minnesota, June 23-29.
Little led UO last weekend in the NCAA West Regional at the Lincoln Hills Golf Course near Sacramento. On the par 72, 6,338-yard course, she finished 17th (71-75-74-220) and ended only two strokes behind the second of the two individual NCAA qualifiers - Erica Moston of San Jose State (73-74-71-218).
