Duck Trio Set for Oregon Women's Amateur

EUGENE, Ore. ? University of Oregon women’s golfers Kate Hildahl and Monika Graf and assistant coach Meredith Jones look forward this week to one of the Pacific Northwest’s top events, the 99th Oregon Women’s Amateur.
The six-day tournament will be held Monday-Saturday, June 16-21 on the par 72, 5,947-yard course at the Bend Golf and Country Club.
Two stroke play rounds ? one each on Monday and Tuesday - will open the tournament. Afterwards, the top 32 players advance to match play rounds that begin on Wednesday.
More tournament information and regularly updated results are available at the www.orgolf.org website.
In April, Hildahl led the Ducks in the Pacific-10 Conference Championships (16th-tie, 226) and paced Oregon in the second round with a career low 70 ? one of four rounds that she carded UO’s low score in 2007-08. Last year in the Oregon Women’s Amateur, she stood 11th in stroke play (80-79-159) and advanced to the quarterfinals after wins over Marcie Hoover (3 and 2) and Amy Mombert (3 and 2).
Graf played four collegiate events as a freshman in 2007-08. The East Wenatchee, Wash., native posted her collegiate best scores for a round (76) and tourney (235) in her collegiate debut ? the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational last fall.
In 2007-08, Jones finished off her first season for the Ducks as an assistant coach, and the Eugene native was already well-known in area golf circles for her prep and collegiate accomplishments. The Baylor University graduate finished top 15 in the Big 12 Conference Championships in all three appearances, and played on the Bears’ first ever NCAA tournament qualifiers. As a prep, the three-time state champion helped Marist High School to five titles.
Looking ahead a month, head coach Shannon Rouillard and six current Duck players ? juniors Cathryn Bristow and Blair Ressler, freshmen Kendra Little and Erica Omlid, Graf and Hildahl ? will compete in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Qualifier at the Portland Golf Club, Monday, July 16. The single-round event will help determine the advancers to the U.S. Women’s Amateur that will be hosted at the Eugene Country Club at Saturday-Friday, August 4-10. More national event information is located at the http://www.uswamateur.org website.
Earlier in June, Rouillard tied for runner-up honors in the Oregon Golf Association Tournament of Champions (74-72-146) on the par 72, 5,612-yard OGA Golf Course at Tukwila. Her final score (77-69-146) was the same as her winning tally from the 2007 event.
