Duck Trio Open Oregon Amateur Match Play

BEND, Ore. ? In Wednesday’s opening round of match play in the 99th Oregon Women’s Amateur tournament, sophomore Kate Hildahl and freshmen Monika Graf and Tiffany Schoning continued action in the Bend Golf and Country Club-hosted event.
The top seed Hildahl opened with a 4-and-3 win over Elizabeth Jarrett of Bend, Ore., and now faces Avery Sills of Portland in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
Schoning lost Wednesday’s contest vs. Sills, 1-up, while Graf was edged by Karly Mills of McMinnville, 4 and 2.
Former Duck coach Lara Tennant also advanced to Thursday’s action with a 2-up win over Jordan Allyne of Bellevue, Wash.
In the previous two days’ stroke play qualifying, the Tualatin native Hildahl (74-76-150) led the field by two strokes, and Graf followed another stroke back in third place for the second consecutive day (75-78-153). Tennant (78-76) followed in a three-way tie for fourth place at 154, six strokes ahead of Schoning (17th-tie, 83-77-160).
Looking ahead, the six-day tournament continues with Thursday’s quarterfinal match play round on the on the par 72, 5,947-yard course. The tourney championship round is set for Saturday, June 21.
