Hildahl Advances to Oregon Amateur Quarterfinal

BEND, Ore. ? Sophomore Kate Hildahl won Thursday’s Round of 16 contest to advance to Friday’s 99th Oregon Women’s Amateur match play quarterfinal.
At the Bend Golf and Country Club-hosted event Thursday, Hildahl won 3 and 2 over Avery Sills of Portland. The Tualatin, Ore., native Hildahl next faces Breanne Smith of Canby who defeated Charisse Spada, 3 and 1, Thursday.
Former Duck coach Lara Tennant also won her match Thursday and advanced to Friday’s quarterfinal with her 2 and 1 win over Katie Saucier.
Two other current Ducks played in Wednedsay’s match play opening round but lost their contests ? freshmen Monika Graf and Tiffany Schnoning. Hildahl won her opener, 4 and 3, over Elizabeth Jarrett of Bend, Ore., and Tennant scored a 2-up win over Jordan Allyne of Bellevue, Wash.
Hildahl led Monday and Tuesday’s stroke play qualifying action by two strokes (74-76-150), and finished three strokes ahead of Graf (third, 75-78-153).
Looking ahead, the six-day tournament continues with Friday’s quarterfinal match play round on the on the par 72, 5,947-yard course. The tourney championship round is set for Saturday, June 21.
