Oregon's trip to College Station, Texas, for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships took a little longer than expected on Wednesday because a passenger on Continental Flight 1546 experienced a medical emergency and the flight had to make an unscheduled landing in Salt Lake City. Team physician Greg Skaggs joined airline personel who tended to passenger until first aid units met the plane on the ground in Salt Lake.
The flight, originally a non-stop from Portland to Houston, was delayed for 90 minutes. The team's thoughts and prayers are with the passenger who needed assistance.
In spite of the unexpected events, the team arrived in College Station -- about 13 hours after its departure from the Casanova Center Wednesday morning -- in good spirits.
Thursday is practice day and press conference day on the campus of Texas A&M, with the national championships getting underway on Friday.
