Cocks Named To Pac-10 Third Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon junior guard Micaela Cocks was named to the Pacific-10 Conference Third Team it was announced today.
Cocks has spear-headed the Ducks’ offense this season with her shooting accuracy, averaging a team-leading 13.5 points per game.
In her first-year as a full-time starter for the Ducks, Cocks came into the 2008-09 season with loads of confidence and preparation after playing for the New Zealand national team at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Summer games.
This year, Cocks has shot 39.9 percent from three-point range and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line. Her 67 three-pointers rank second in the Pac-10, as does her astonishing 36.8 minutes per game.
Known for above par conditioning, Cocks has led the Ducks in scoring 11 times this year, reached double figures on 20 occasions, and eclipsed the 20-point plateau five times.
Cocks’ 67 three-pointers rank fifth in Oregon single-season history, increasing her career total to 119 career treys, a mark that ranks seventh all-time.
In her third year with Oregon, Cocks eclipsed previous career highs with 391 points scored, 1068 minutes played, 67 three-pointers, a .399 three-point field goal percentage, 70-of-82 free throws made and attempted, 42 assists and 24 steals.
This was Cocks' first all-conference honor at Oregon.
Cocks' backcourt teammate, and the Ducks' second leading scorer, junior guard Taylor Lilley was named Pac-10 honorable mention. It marked the third consecutive season that Lilley has received conference honors after she was named to the Third Team a year ago, and Pac-10 All-Freshman honorable mention as a rookie.
Lilley averaged 10.5 points per game this season, and improved that average to 11.8 ppg during conference play. One of the most prolific three-point shooters in the league, Lilley missed eight games throughout the season due to injury, but still led the Ducks in scoring 11 times, reached double figures 11 times and hit the 20-point plateau on four occasions.
During the year, Lilley and Cocks shared point guard duties, as Lilley led Oregon with 68 assists.
Lilley's 146 career three-pointers currently ranks fourth all-time, and fourth among active Pac-10 players.
Oregon freshmen forwards Amanda Johnson and Jasmin Holliday were named Pac-10 All-Freshman team honorable mention.
Johnson looks to finish the season as the third freshman in program history, and the first since current head coach Bev Smith (1978-79) to lead the Ducks in both rebounding (156; 5.4 rpg) and steals (41; 1.4 spg) as a rookie.
The 6-foot-2 forward has led Oregon in rebounding a team-leadng 10 times this year, and is averaging 7.9 points per game.
Holliday leads the Ducks with a .447 shooting percentage, averaging 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Chino Hills, Calif, native scored in double figures seven times this year, including a season-best 15 at Arizona on Feb. 7.
The Ducks (9-20, 5-13) enter the Pac-10 Tournament as the No. 7 seed, set to play 10th-seed Washington in the first round at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
With a win on Thursday, Oregon would advance to the quarterfinals and would play No. 2 seed and 12th-ranked California at 1:15 p.m. on Friday.
