Men?s Golf Hosts 21st Annual Oregon Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. ? Oregon will host the 21st annual Oregon Duck Invitational men’s golf tournament Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,033-yard Eugene Country Club.
For the first time in its history, the Duck Invitational will feature live stats on line a www.golfstat.com.
Competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day with a shotgun start. The tournament is open to the public and admission is free.
The 2008 tournament will feature defending individual medalist T.J. Bordeaux of Pacific. Bordeaux shot a 6-under 210 to win by five strokes last year at Emerald Valley Golf Club. Richard Lee of Washington is the top-ranked individual in the field according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin poll, coming into the Duck Invitational at No. 19.
Other individuals in the top 100 nationally include No. 23 Andrew Putnam of Pepperdine, No. 28 Nick Taylor of Washington, No. 49 Derek Tolan of Colorado, No. 55 Zack Sucher of Alabama-Birmingham, No. 79 Austin Graham of UC Davis, No. 86 Pat Grady of Colorado, No. 95 Nate Pistacchio of UC Davis and teammate Ramie Sprinkling at No. 98.
No. 11 Washington is the only top-25 team in the 13-team field. The rest of the teams include UAB, UC Davis, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary’s, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
Oregon will stick with the same line-up that won the Braveheart Classic three weeks ago in Beaumont, Calif. That means the Ducks will play four freshmen: Eugene Wong, Robbie Ziegler, Daniel Miernicki and Andrew Vijarro, plus sophomore Isaiah Telles. The Ducks will also have five individuals: senior Matt Jacobsen, sophomores Jack Dukeminier, Sean Maekawa and Eric Grimberg, and freshman John Paton.
Oregon last won its own tournament in 2002.
