Ducks to Launch

The University of Oregon will launch a daily sports webcast that will feature interviews with coaches, administrators and student-athletes, and enable fans worldwide to keep in contact with Ducks’ intercollegiate athletics and university events.
“GoDucks LIVE with Jerry Allen” will originate from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday from the Duck Store in the northwest corner of the Moshofsky Center, beginning Monday, April 27. It offers the state’s first daily programming dedicated to the promotion and broadening the appeal of one of Oregon’s educational insti-tutions and its intercollegiate athletics program.
The two-hour call-in internet program, which can be seen on the school’s official athletics website, www.goducks.com, will be hosted by Oregon’s long-time radio voice, Jerry Allen, with fans encouraged to stop by the Duck Store to watch the live production of the show as well as e-mail or text questions to be answered on the air.
“What a great opportunity this presents for us to take advantage of the changing technology and reach our fans around the globe who have been somewhat limited in the amount of information they have access to surround-ing the Ducks,” said Joe Giansante, senior associate athletics director at the University of Oregon. “Recognizing that Oregon is now a national and international brand of innovation and excitement based on the incredible success enjoyed by our teams, spreading more information about Oregon to all our fans, whether they be in Eugene or Europe, is the next step in broadening our appeal.
“When you have someone hosting the program who has been so strongly identified with Oregon athletics as Jerry Allen, we feel this format will help us become better stewards to our fans and donors, as well as help us achieve many of our goals of relaying the many great untold stories regarding our student-athletes. This also will create a new interactive place for our fans to consume information, shop, receive ticketing information and enhance their online experience of goducks.com.”
Viewers will be able to access the new internet programming free of charge, with the show also to include game recaps and highlights from previous Oregon contests, as well as general discussions involving college sports and other newsworthy topics of the day.
“What a thrill it will be to host a show every day dedicated to the Ducks,” Allen said. “Even more exciting is to be involved with broadening our perimeters and having the chance to talk with the thousands of great Duck fans and donors throughout the world in addition to those who live in the area and statewide that I have come to know so well. My hope is that throughout the day, fans will make listening to the show and checking our blogs a part of their daily routine.”
