NCAA Champ Rupp Leads MPSF All-Academic Team

WOODLAND, Calif. -- Galen Rupp, a three-time champion at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships, led a cadre of 17 Ducks who were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic teams, MPSF executive director Al Beaird announced Wednesday.
Rupp, who holds a 3.87 grade point average, won the 3,000 meters, the 5,000 meters and anchored Oregon’s winning distance medley relay team at the national championships last month in College Station, Texas. The senior from Portland, Ore., became the first person in NCAA history to win the three distance events at one championship. Rupp also won the individual 2008 NCAA Cross Country title. He led the Ducks to team trophies in both cross country and indoor track.
Rupp was joined on the MPSF all-academic teams by fellow 2009 indoor All-Americans Scott Wall, Keshia Baker, Nicole Blood, Zoe Buckman, Melissa Gergel, Alexandra Kosinski, Kalindra McFadden and Brianne Theisen. Also honored were Jordan Kelly, Megan Maloney, Jordan Roskelley and Leah Worthen for the women and Eric Hersey, Brian McGinty, Jordan Stray and Collin Witter-Tilton for the men.
