Walker's Pace: Men Back to No. 1, Official Fan Site for the Pac-10 Meet

Walker's Pace: Men Back to No. 1, Official Fan Site for the Pac-10 Meet
Thursday, May 14, 10:30 a.m. PDT
After a two week hiatus, the Men of Oregon have moved back to the top spot in the latest USTFCCCA poll. Florida, which had overtaken the Ducks the last two weeks, came in at No. 2 with Florida State, Texas A&M and Nebraska rounding out the top five. Other Pac-10 teams in the poll included No. 6 Arizona State, No. 10 Stanford, No. 14 Washington, No. 16 USC, No. 17 California and No. 21 Washington State.
On
the women's side, Texas A&M continues its year-long lead, but
Oregon moved back up two spots to No. 2, followed by Florida State, LSU
and USC. Arizona State was seventh -- that's three Pac-10 teams in the
top seven, which should make this weekend's Pac-10 championships at
Historic Hayward Field extremely compelling.

Also, Runnerspace.com has created "the Official Fan Site of the 2009 Pac-10 Track and Field Championships," which has interesting content from around the conference.
Also, the local newspapers are amping up their track coverage (an aside, we're very fortunate to have two in-state newspapers with an extremely high track acumen in the Eugene Register-Guard and the Oregonian). Here are links to feature stories by the Guard's Curtis Anderson on Chris Winter, and by Chris Hansen on Rachel Yurkovich. Be sure to watch for a Keshia Baker feature later in the week from Ken Goe of the Oregonian. And in an effort not to slight the student journalists, the Daily Emerald featured Oregon's elder stateswoman, Dana Buchanan.
Check back to goducks.com tomorrow for more links, as well as the official weather forecast from ace forecaster Bobby Corser.
And don't forget that the Ducks are welcoming back all track and field alumni for a special reception on Saturday, May 16 during the Pac-10 Championships. Click here for more details.
