O Heroes, Chip Kelly to Host Youth Football Camp

EUGENE, Ore. -- O Heroes and University of Oregon football coach Chip Kelly recently announced a joint effort to create programs that benefit the youth of Lane County and the surrounding area. Kelly will kick-off this partnership by hosting a free youth football camp in Autzen Stadium on Saturday, May 30, from noon to 2 p.m.
“I am very excited to help our student-athletes reach the kids of Lane County and educate them about the importance of education, health and serving the community,” Kelly said.
This camp is free to all participants and will allow children (grades 1-8) to be instructed by Kelly and members of the Duck football team. The event is limited to the first 300 kids who register and each will be given a free autographed poster.
A printable registration form is available online in the camps section of goducks.com.
Future projects that Kelly and O Heroes are planning include raising money to feed families Thanksgiving dinner and delivering Christmas gifts to deserving children during the holidays.
The Oregon “O” Heroes program is a student-athlete non-profit organization that operates under the direction of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The executive members of SAAC serve as the board of directors of the O Heroes program. The goal of O Heroes is to create a single identity for all community service initiatives and to see involvement from all student-athletes, staff, faculty, and campus community. Service is one aspect of three areas in which student-athletes feel they are able to excel. The other areas are health and education.
