Walker's Pace: Centrowitz Headlines Tomorrow's Tuesdays in Track Town

Centrowitz Headlines Tomorrow's Tuesdays in Track Town
Monday, May 4, 3:00 p.m. PDT
Matthew Centrowitz will headline tomorrow night's "Tuesdays in Track Town" town hall meeting which runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bowerman Building on the UO campus.
Centrowitz will be on hand to talk about his eye-popping run in the 1,500 meters last Saturday night at Stanford, when he turned in the best time in the nation this season (3:36.92). That time was just a half-second off the 1984 school record of 3:36.48 held by Olympic gold medalist Joaquim Cruz. The redshirt freshman’s time ranks third all-time at Oregon, behind only Cruz and Centrowitz’s father, Matt Centrowitz, who clocked 3:36.70 in 1976. It was also the seventh-fastest time in NCAA history.
Centrowitz will also discuss the Ducks' upcoming four-mile relay record attempt at Saturday's Twilight Meet. He will be joined on that topic by Shadrack Biwott, as well as Oregon Track Club Elite runners Will Leer, Gabe Jennings and Ben Bruce.
The town hall will also cover this weekend's upcoming Pac-10 combined events, with associate director of track and field Dan Steele giving a run down of the competition along with heptathlete Kalindra McFadden.
And don't forget that the Ducks are welcoming back all track and field alumni for a special reception on Saturday, May 16 during the Pac-10 Championships. Click here for more details.
