DUCKS TO WATCH
The Ducks sport a pair of All-Pac-10 Second Team veterans ? senior Cathryn Bristow and sophomore Kendra Little - who come off 10th and 12th-place finishes in the recent Pacific-10 Conference Championships. The duo have combined for five individual titles career-wise and are both ranked top 100 in the Golf Stat (81st / 89th) and GolfWeek (82nd / 89th) rankings.
Four of UO’s five entries played in last year’s event ? Little (17th), Bristow (35th), and juniors Felicia Eastick (56th) and Kate Hildahl (86th) ? when the Ducks took 13th (303-297-301-901). Its other entry, freshman Ashley Edwards, has proven one of Oregon’s most consistent scorers and has led the team in six of her 18 collegiate rounds.
The Ducks’ eight-person roster is arguably one of its most balanced ever as three different players have led the squad in its 10 tourneys so far in 2008-09 ? Bristow (five times), Little (five times), and sophomore Monika Graf (once). Freshman Ashley Edwards has ranked top three on the squad in all six of her tourneys this season including the Pac-10 Championships (25th-overall), and three others have also ranked top-three on the squad in various events (Eastick, Hildahl and sophomore Erica Omlid).
Among UO’s top individual efforts this season, Little notched her second career victory last September to open the season in the Giustina Memorial Classic (69-73-73-215) in Corvallis. In March, the Eugene native Little and Edwards took third and fifth in the Oregon Duck Invitational (221/224) ? UO’s fourth and fifth top-five finishes of the season to go along with Graf’s and Hildahl’s third-place finishes in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational and Giustina event last fall. Bristow is a three-time event champion with her victories from 2007-08 (1) and 2005-06 (2), and Eastick also won the 2007 Giustina Classic fall season opener.
RECENT DUCK ACTION
Two weekends ago against many of the nation’s top teams, the Ducks placed seventh in the 23rd annual Pacific-10 Conference Championships to match its best finish since 1996 (sixth), while it also took seventh in ’00 and ’08. Individually, Bristow and Little placed 10th (75-72-70-217) and 12th overall (76-73-70-219), while freshman Ashley Edwards also placed top 25 overall (24th-t, 79-72-74-225). UO’s other entrants at the Stanford Golf Course-hosted event included sophomore Monika Graf (43rd, 82-78-80-240) and Erica Omlid (49th, 82-81-83-246). Bristow was UO’s highest individual placer since Jerilyn White took ninth in 2001.
In the preceding month, Oregon claimed its third runner-up finish of the season in the Oregon Duck Invitational (301-303-298-902), and added fourth in the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational with its third sub-900 score of the year (311-301-283-895).
ALL-PAC-10 CRED
Immediately after the Pac-10 Championships, sophomore Kendra Little and senior Cathryn Bristow received All-Pac-10 Second Team and Honorable Mention nods. The Huapai, New Zealand native Bristow was accorded honorable mention status for the second time (with the other coming in the 2005-06 season) after she was picked to the All-Pac-10 Second Team in 2008. She joined former great Duck Paula Patterson (1st-’97; 2nd’98; HM-’96) as the only Oregon players to ever garner three All-Pac-10 honors. Little joined Patterson as the only UO players to receive multiple first- or second-team acclaim.

She celebrated her third career victory in the 2008 UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational with a school tourney record 208 (69-69-70), after she won twice by one stroke as a freshman in the fall’s OSU Invitational (70-74-73-217), and the spring’s Illinois Invitational (74-72-146). Her 2009 Las Vegas return (fifth, 75-75-68-218) was her eighth top-five overall finish in 39 collegiate tournaments for UO. Altogether, she has led UO in 43 times in 111 career rounds, and April’s Pac-10 stop was the 16th time that she has paced UO in the final standings of a collegiate tourney. This week, she stood 89th in the Golf Stat and Golfweek national rankings.

She is one of three Ducks with collegiate titles to her credit after her sophomore win in the Giustina Memorial Classic (74-69-74-217) to open the fall of 2007. At the end of the 2008 spring slate, the Queensland, Australia native was the third-highest Duck in the GolfStat national rankings (247th / 239th) after she led UO in nine of her 33 season rounds that included a career best 69. In spring action in '09, she shot a season low par 72 round in the final round of the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational in early March.

Her four-stroke tourney best in the latter event included her collegiate best in the second round (2-under 70). The Tualatin, Ore., native shined last summer in many of the area’s finest events, and won the 2008 Oregon Amateur and PNGA Public Links titles, and her third-place U.S. Women’s Amateur qualifier finish netted an invite to the national event last August at the Eugene Country Club.
- Sophomore Monika Graf has paced UO in six of her 24 rounds this year ? the first such honors of her collegiate career. She led UO in the final standings for the first time in October’s Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational (third-tie, 226) with UO’s best scores in the first and final rounds. The East Wenatchee, Wash., product entered the fall season with a collegiate low of 76, and has topped that mark eight times (70, 72x2, 73x2, 74, 75x4) and tied it in another round, with her collegiate best in the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational final round in early March.

Overall last fall, the Springfield, Ore., native equaled or topped her preseason round best (75) in five of her nine rounds (75x2, 74x2), and led UO for the first time in the Ihlanfeldt stop with her second-round 75 in wet, blustery conditions. She opened the spring with another Duck daily low in the Kiawah Island Classic second round and ranked third among Duck finishers in the final standings (57th-t, 80-77-76-233).
- Senior Blair Ressler saw her most extensive action as a collegian as a junior in 2007-08, and played seven events and 21 rounds. The Bellingham, Wash., native has played two events for UO in 2008-09 ? the Oregon Duck Invitational (42nd, 241) and Giustina Memorial Classic.
TOP OF THE LEADERBOARD
Sophomore Kendra Little opened the fall campaign with a four-stroke victory in the Giustina Memorial Classic (69-73-73-215) and UO’s sixth tournament title from its current roster. Last spring, she added UO’s second-ever victory in its Duck Invitational by a similar four-stroke margin (70-73-71-214). Two weeks before, senior Cathryn Bristow claimed the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational (69-69-70) last March with UO’s first-ever tourney with all-under par scores on the par-72 course. Earlier in the campaign, junior Felicia Eastick kicked off the 2007 fall campaign with a two-stroke win in the Giustina event (74-69-74-217). Bristow also added a one-stroke win in the same event as a freshman in the fall of 2005 (70-74-73-217), then took the Illini Spring Classic later that spring (74-72-146) by one stroke. Going back to the 2007 spring opener, former Duck Kim McCready added UO’s seventh title the last four seasons with her five-stroke win in the Baja Classic (70-75-145) in Baja, California.
TOP DUCK
Interim head coach Meredith Jones rounds out her second year with the Duck program after serving as an assistant coach in 2007-08. The Eugene native was one of Baylor’s top players from 2003-06, and an All-Big 12 Tournament selection and a top-15 conference finisher all three seasons. She enjoyed a seventh-place Big 12 placing as a sophomore, followed by 12th- and 14th-place efforts as a junior and senior, and also played on Baylor’s first-ever NCAA tournament qualifiers. As a prep, the three-time state champion helped Marist High School to five championships. Off the course, she was selected as an Academic All-American, Academic All-Big-12, Commissioners Honor Roll and NCGA Scholar selection. Her family enjoys strong ties to the Duck athletic department. Her father Dr. Donald Jones is a UO team doctor, and her brother-in-law Peter Sirmon was an All-Pac-10 linebacker and now a graduate assistant coach for the Duck football team.
CONFERENCE OF CHAMPIONS
The above moniker is indeed appropriate for the Pacific-10 Conference - year-in and year-out the nation’s top golf league. This year’s rankings have featured eight different teams ranked top-25, including three of the current top four (GW/GS)) ? Arizona State (1/1), UCLA (2/2) and USC (3/4). At the end of last fall, the Pac-10 featured the top three teams in the GolfStat rankings - No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 USC, No. 3 Arizona State - and four others ranked top 30 (No. 16 California, No. 21 Stanford, No. 22 Arizona, No. 26 Oregon). Nine of the Pac-10’s 11 All-Americans from 2008 return in ’09, and sophomore Kendra Little was one of 12 league individuals that ranked 31st or higher in the fall Golfstat rankings. In the 2008 NCAA Championships, the Pac-10 featured three, top-five NCAA team finishers and nine individuals in the top 20 in the final standings (including four of the top five). Going back to the first NCAA championship in 1982, Pac-10 teams have claimed 12 of the last 18 NCAA titles along with seven runner-up nods, while league individuals have won 13 titles (including 12 of the last 19).
OTHER SPRING SEASON RECAPS
Ping / ASU Invitational ? Tempe, Ariz. (4/3-5/09) ? Against another all-star field in the ASU-hosted event, the then-No. 28 Ducks took 17th overall, and were led by sophomore Kendra Little (39th-t, 74-81-75-230). Senior Cathryn Bristow followed three strokes back (55th-tie, 75-81-77-233), and other Duck players included freshman Ashley Edwards (70th-t, 77-79-81-237), and juniors Felicia Eastick (78th-t, 74-81-88-243) and Kate Hildahl (88th-t, 79-84-86-249), while sophomore Monika Graf also played as an individual (81st, 84-78-82-244).
Oregon Duck Invitational ? Eugene (3/23-24/09). Sophomore Kendra Little and freshman Ashley Edwards placed third and fifth overall, while the No. 29 Ducks combined on a 298 final round - the third-lowest of the tourney to place second overall (902) at the event hosted at Shadow Hills Country Club. Oregon (second, 301-303-298) notched its second-best finish ever in the 15th edition of the tourney behind its win in 2008. UO's low scorer each round, Little (third, 73-75-73-221) notched her second top-five finish of the season after she won the season-opening Giustina Memorial Classic (69-73-73-215) in Corvallis last September. Edwards - who shared the team's low score the first two rounds - continued to shine as UO's top newcomer this season and posted her first top-five overall finish of her career (fifth, 73-75-76-224). Duck senior Cathryn Bristow tied Little for the best final round among UO's entries to climb into a tie for 12th overall (79-76-73-228). UO's other team entries also finished top 35 overall in the final standings - junior Felicia Eastick (19th-t, 78-77-76-231) and sophomore Erica Omlid (31st-tie, 77-82-79-238). The Ducks also entered three players as individuals and were led by junior Kate Hildahl who posted her second top-10 finish of the season (ninth-tie, 77-76-74-227). UO's other individual entries included sophomore Monika Graf (36th-t, 77-83-79-239) and senior Blair Ressler (42nd-t, 79-80-82-241).
UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational - Boulder Creek, Nev. (3/9-11) - In its second stop of the ’09 spring campaign, then-No. 29 UO tied for fourth (311-301-283-895) after a 283 final round ? the second-lowest of the tourney. Senior Cathryn Bristow staked her eighth top-five career finish (fifth, 75-75-68-218), and her 4-under final round 68 tied the fourth-best score in school history. Sophomore Monika Graf shot a two-shot collegiate best in the final round (70) and tied for 20th place overall (79-75-70-224). Freshman Ashley Edwards led UO in the second round (80-74-73-227) and tied for 29th overall in the final standings with sophomore Kendra Little (77-77-73-227). Junior Felicia Eastick (46th, 82-77-72-231) carded a three-shot season best in the final round and ended tied in the final standings with junior Kate Hildahl (46th-t, 78-82-71-231) who carded the second-lowest round of her career in the third round (78-82-71-231).
Kiawah Island Classic - Kiawah Island, S.C. (2/22-24) ? In their spring season opener, the No. 25 Ducks closed action tied for seventh place thanks to a final round 296 ? the second-lowest score of the tourney. UO’s overall score of 917 (310-311-296) tied it with No. 48 Kentucky (312-302-303-917), only 13 strokes behind the team champions Miami and Central Arkansas (tie, 904). Individually, all four of Oregon’s final round scorers shot their best rounds of the tourney and carded scores of 76 or better on the par-72 Cougar Point course. Senior Cathryn Bristow led UO (24th, 77-77-73-227) for the second time in four appearances this year, and also carded its low score in the second round with sophomore Erica Omlid (57th-t, 80-77-76-233). Fellow sophomore Monika Graf (37th-t, 75-83-72-23) paced the team in the first and third rounds ? the fifth and sixth rounds that she’s paced UO in her career. Other Duck finishers included junior Felicia Eastick (103rd-t, 87-78-75-240) and sophomore Kendra Little (115th-t, 78-79-84-241). Overall on the individual leaderboard, Central Arkansas’ Nicole Forshner and East Tennessee State’s Sinead O’Sullivan shot identical scores all three rounds and tied for the win (74-73-71-218), and their final round 71’s were one off the 2009 tourney’s low.
FALL SEASON RECAPS
Giustina Memorial Classic - Corvallis, Ore., (9/22-23). In UO’s season opener, sophomore Kendra Little posted her second collegiate title and UO’s seventh overall the past four years. The Eugene native shot a 73 final round? the day’s best women’s score on the par 72, 6,282-yard Trysting Tree Golf Course ? to win by four strokes (69-73-73-215) over Oregon State’s Cara Freeman (second place, 75-70-74-219) and Duck junior Kate Hildahl (third, 71-70-79-229). Little’s win continued a string of individual success at the fall Corvallis event dating back to senior Cathryn Bristow who won the event by one stroke in 2005 in her second freshman appearance, and was duplicated in 2007 when junior Felicia Eastick added a two-stroke victory. Hildahl’s effort also stood out since her opening rounds of 71-70 gave her the lead for the first time in her collegiate career heading into a final round. That latter score also tied her collegiate best from 2008, and the pair of 18-hole scores stood as the fourth and fifth of her career of par 72 or better (not to mention the first pair in the same tourney). Bristow added her 11th career top-10 finish (eighth-tie, 76-74-78-228), and other UO entries included senior Blair Ressler (82-DQ-82) and sophomore Monika Graf (37th overall, 75-86-83-244). Then-No. 26 Oregon scored a runner-up team finish (291-303-312) and trailed host Oregon State by only two strokes.
Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational - Sammamish, Wash. (10/6-8). The then-No. 31 Ducks led the opening round at the Sahalee Golf Club, then held onto the runner-up slot in the second and third rounds against a talented field. Sophomore Monika Graf shot a final round 75 to move back into third place overall (73-78-75-226) and led UO in the first and third rounds. Her 1-over 73 tourney opener was a two-stroke collegiate best and her 75 finale tied her pre-tournament best. Coming into the season she owned a collegiate best of 76 from the 2007-08 campaign, and has bettered that score in three of the fall's first six rounds. Fellow sophomore Kendra Little followed in a tie for 10th place (73-80-75-228), while Felicia Eastick added a top-20 finish in her first action of the fall (18th-tie, 77-76-80-233). SUMMER FUN
Junior Kate Hildahl got a head start on the fall slate with a successful summer campaign that featured wins in the Oregon Amateur (6 and 5 score over former Duck Karly Mills) at the Bend Country Club and PNGA Public Links (72-73-145) by four strokes at Hangman Valley near Spokane, Wash. She also took third in her U.S. Women’s Amateur qualifier with a 2-over 74 and earned an invite to the national event in August at the Eugene Country Club. Against many of the nation’s top players, she ranked 110th in stroke play (78-80-158) and was only six strokes shy of the final qualifying spot for match play.
In August, sophomore Kendra Little won the Oregon Women's Stroke Play tournament at the Arrowhead Golf Club near Portland, thanks to her 8-under 134 (67-67), and won by eight strokes over former Duck Lara Tennant. A month later, she tied for first in the Safeway Classic Amateur Open 18-hole event.

2008 DUCK INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Last spring, Cathryn Bristow and Kendra Little became the first pair of same-season Duck All-Pac-10 Second Team honorees after they took turns breaking the single UO round record with scores of 65 and 67, respectively, in the Indiana and UNLV Spring Rebel Invitationals. Bristow also reset the Ducks’ tournament record at Las Vegas with its first-ever tourney with all under-par rounds (69-69-70-208).
Kate Hildahl led the team in the 2008 Pac-10 Championships (16th, 75-70-81-226), and finished one stroke ahead of Little (20th, 71-76-80-227). In the spring, the Tualatin, Ore., native Hildahl carded five of the then-seven lowest low rounds of her career (70, 72, 73, 74 (x2)), and the other two came her freshman season in 2006-07 (73 (x2)). In the Pac-10 Championships, she shot her first college under-par round (2-under 70) and led UO for the second time in her career in an event’s overall standings (16th, 75-70-81-226) after a likewise effort in the Lady Gator Invitational in the spring opener (27th-tie, 77-73-74-224).
Ranked top three for UO in the final standings in her nine of her 10 sophomore appearances, Felicia Eastick shot a career low three-under 69 en route to a win in the 2007 fall opener, the Giustina Memorial Classic in Corvallis, Ore., (74-69-74-217). In March 2008, she scored a 15th-place finish in the Duck Invitational (75-78-75-228) and added top-25 placings in the NCAA West Regional (21st-tie, 73-74-78-225) and Indiana Invitational (24th-t, 74-76-77-227).
Blair Ressler played a career-high seven events the 2007-08 season, and enjoyed top-30 placings in the 2007 Giustina Memorial Classic (24th-t, 79-76-76-231) and Duck Invitational (30th, 77-75-82-234). Among her eight freshman appearances, Erica Omlid placed top 40 in the Giustina Memorial Classic (31st-tie, 82-80-75) and Duck Invitational (35th, 77-83-76-236), and shot a season-low 75 in three different contests. Fellow frosh Monka Graf also played four events as a frosh, with a high placing of 44th as an individual in the USF Invitational, while her low round came in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational finale (4-over 76).
2008 SEASON REWIND
UO enjoyed one of its most successful seasons ever in 2007-08 and ended the fall and spring campaigns with a 301.8 stroke average in its 36 rounds. In Oregon’s 12 events, it savored a win in the Duck Invitational, a runner-up West Regional Preview finish and three more third-place finishes. The Ducks rewrote their all-time tournament scoring record by nine strokes with a 5-over 869 at UNLV in March (292-291-286), and their final round (286) was a season best and one of 15 scores of 300 or better in 36 combined from the spring and fall campaigns.
In May, then-No. 44 Oregon claimed its fourth top-13 NCAA West Regional finish (13th, 303-297-301-901) in as many trips since 2001. UO finished only nine strokes shy of eighth place ? the final qualifying slot for the NCAA Championships ? and had one top-20 finisher in Little (17th-tie, 71-75-74-220). Two weeks before, No. 46 UO’s seventh-place Pac-10 Championships finish (298-302-316-916) was its best since 2000, and featured two, top-20 placers in Hildahl (16th-tie, 75-70-81-226) and Little (20th-tie, 71-76-80-227). In early March, No. 49 UO celebrated a school-best five-over 869 final score (third, 292-291-286) in the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational (3/10-12). In the desert stop, Bristow posted her third collegiate title (69-69-70-208) and was followed by Little (72-74-67-213) who celebrated a then-school record 5-under 67 final round. Two weeks later, No. 43 UO swept the Duck Invitational (3/24-25) team and individual titles for the first time in school history. UO won by four strokes (297-309-294-900) and featured three top-15 finishers in Little (first, 70-73-71-214), Bristow (sixth-tie, 75-77-72-224) and Eastick (15th, 75-78-75-228). The next stop, the NCAA West Regional Preview (3/31-4/1), No. 44 UO added a runner-up finish and tied its second-lowest overall season score (300-292-308-900) at Sacramento, and was led by Bristow (second, 75-70-72-217). In the regular season finale, the Indiana Invitational (4/7-8), No. 44 UO placed sixth overall (306-304-295-905) and had three top-25 finishers in Bristow (fourth, 76-74-65-215), Little (24th-tie, 80-73-74-227) and Eastick (24th-tie, 74-76-77-227), while Bristow improved on Little’s single-round record by another strokes with her 7-under 65 opener. In February, the No. 44 Ducks opened the spring with a ninth-place finish in the Lady Gator Invitational (2/22-24) in Gainesville, Fla., and were led by Hildahl (27th, 77-73-74-224).
In the fall, UO opened the campaign with third-place finishes in two of its first three tourneys ? the Giustina Memorial (299-304-300) and Edean Ihlandfeldt Invitational (307-290-303) in Corvallis, Ore., and Sammamish, Wash., respectively. Oregon also competed in the Heather Fall Memorial (sixth, 038-298-295-901), Stanford Invitational (16th, 310-319-303-932) and USF Invitational (fourth, 308-307-303-918). Sophomore Felicia Eastick won the season opener Giustina Memorial Classic (74-69-74-217), and UO celebrated another pair of top-10 efforts by Kendra Little (fourth-tie, 76-69-75-220) and Cathryn Bristow (eighth-tie, 77-73-71-221) in the Edean Ihlanfelt Invitational.
