NWAACC Player of The Year Committs To Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. ? The reigning Northwest Athletic Association of Community College Southern Region Player of the Year, Kristi Fallin, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Oregon, it was announced by head coach Paul Westhead today.
“Kristi has the ability to put the ball in the basket,” Westhead said. “Our desire to increase our offensive scoring next season will make her a good fit for our program.”
Fallin played two seasons at Umpqua Community College for head coach Dave Stricklin, and ended her career as the program’s all-time three-point leader with 208 ? crushing the previous mark of 132. The Roseburg native also finished as the program’s all-time second leading scorer, and became just the fifth player in Riverhawks history to break the 1,000-point plateau.
During her recent MVP season, Fallin led the NWAAC averaging 23.0 points per game, as Umpqua clinched the Southern Region title, and took a third-place finish at the NWAAC championships, ending the year with a 29-3 record.
A State Farm All-American finalist, Fallin knocked down 118 three-pointers last season, shooting 44.9 percent from three-point range, and an astonishing 48.9 percent from the field overall.
During her freshman campaign at Umpqua, Fallin hit 90 from long distance, averaging 16.0 ppg and earning first all-NWAACC Southern Region honors.
Fallin, Oregon’s second in-state recruit for 2009-10, will have two years of eligibility left. She is a 2007 graduate of Roseburg High School, where she was named to the all-Southwest Conference first-team her final season.
Fallin joins fellow Oregon 2009-10 recruit Aliyah Green out of Jefferson High School in Portland.
