Tommasini And Nichols Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon senior outfielder Caleb Tommasini and junior pitcher Geoff Nichols were named to the Pac-10 Baseball All-Academic teams, it was announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Tommasini, who graduated from the UO in the winter with a degree in Business Finance, was named to the First Team with a 3.42 GPA. The Tenmile, Ore., native is a former Duck football player who made the move to the baseball diamond for his final season with Oregon.
He was the Ducks leadoff hitter and starting center fielder the majority of the season, batting .244 and leading the program in runs scored (26) and stolen bases (16).
Nichols, an Economics major, was named Pac-10 Honorable Mention. The Portland native appeared in 20 games this season, pitching a total of 19 innings with a 6.63 ERA, and a 1-2 record.
