Oregon Adds Candyce Flynn For 2009-10

EUGENE, Ore. - University of Oregon women’s basketball head coach Paul Westhead announced the addition of Candyce Flynn to the 2009-10 recruiting class today.
Flynn, a transfer from Rend Lake College in Ina, Ill., signed a Financial Aid Award Letter with Oregon and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
“Candyce brings some depth to the point guard position, and her uptempo-style of play fits in well with our fastbreak system,” Westhead said. “She brings two years of experience and is a proven winner at both the high school and collegiate levels. Her athleticism adds a different element to our team, and I think she will work well with our current backcourt.”
A 5-foot-6 point guard, Flynn spent one season with the Warriors, as Rend Lake finished its season 23-10 advancing to the NJCAA Division I Region XXIV championship game.
Flynn earned all-Region XXIV and all-Great Rivers Athletic Conference honors averaging 14.3 points, 5.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game. Rend Lake finished second in the GRAC with a 12-4 league record as Flynn was also named to the GRAC all-tournament team.
She played her freshman season at Morehead State (Morehead, Ky.), appearing 29 games while making seven starts.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Flynn graduated from Cleveland Central Catholic High School in 2007 after leading her team to an Ohio Division I state championship.
During her time at Cleveland Central Catholic, Flynn was named second team all-state and first team all-conference, while guiding the Ironmen to four conference championships.
Flynn joins Kristi Fallin (Umpqua CC, Roseburg, Ore.) and Aliyah Green (Jefferson HS, Portland, Ore.) as part of the 2009-10 Oregon class.
