Little Takes Second in Oregon Amateur

BANDON, Ore. ? University of Oregon sophomore Kendra Little finished second in a hard-fought Oregon Amateur match play final in the Bandon Dunes-hosted event Saturday.
Second seed Amy Simanton won by a 1 up score in the 36-hole affair and had at least a 1 up advantage in 33 of the 36 holes. Little even faced a 4 up deficit with seven holes remaining, but won three straight holes, then won again on the 35th hole to tie matters. However, Simanton claimed the contest with a par 4 score on the final, 515-yard 18th hole, while Little shot a bogey.
Little earned her spot in the final after a pair of wins Friday over sophomore teammate and ninth seed Erica Omlid, 4 and 2, in the quarterfinal, and 21st seed Caitlin McCleary, 1 up, in the semifinal.
In previous match play rounds, Little beat 16th seed Audrey Dalton, 4 and 3, Thursday, and 32nd seed Athena Douglas; 4 and 2, Wednesday.
