Saturday, April 17, 8:45 a.m. PDT
Oregon's Zoe Buckman became eligible for selection to the Australian team that will represent that country at this summer's Commwealth Games by finishing third in the 1,500 meters Saturday in Perth, Australia. Buckman ran 4:18.58 at the Australian National Championships and was just a half a second out of first.
The Canberra, Australia, continues to lead the NCAA in the 1,500
meters this season with her time of 4:12.80 from the March 20 Oregon
Preview, which is also the top time this year among all Australian
runners. With her top-three finish Saturday, Buckman now needs to run the ‘B’ standard of 4:11.00 at some point this season to be
eligible for the Commonwealth Games. Buckman will return to the Ducks’ team in time for next week’s Penn Relays.
