Eugene Wong has been named the goducks.com Student Athlete of the Week for 4/19-4/25.
Wong shot 67 in the final round of the 64th annual Western Intercollegiate to win medalist honors while leading the fourth-ranked Ducks to their school-best fourth team title of the season. He held a two-stroke lead after the first two rounds at the 6,615-yard, par 70 Pasatiempo Golf Club, finished at 8-under 202 (65-70-67). For Wong, the individual victory was his second of the season and fourth by a UO golfer this spring. Earlier this year Wong was named the Pac-10 golfer of the month for March. Tying for third at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, Wong stayed under par in all three rounds to finish with a 6-under 207 (69-68-70). He earned the first medalist honor of his collegiate career at USC Invitational, tying the tournament record at 10-under 203 (65-69-69) to lead UO to its first team title of the season. As well, he posted his best career round (64) and finish (second) at the Pacific Invitational. He finished at 10-under 203 following rounds of 64-66-73 and his opening round was just two shots off the school record.
