Duck Feed: Thurmond to Seattle in Fourth Round

Thurmond to Seattle in Fourth Round
Saturday, April 24, 4:00 p.m. PDT
Thurmond III, a preseason All-American in 2009, became the fourth UO defensive back drafted in the past two years. Despite having his senior season cut short due to a knee injury in the fourth game of the year, Thurmond leaves Eugene ranked ninth on the all-time interceptions list with 12 and first in punt return average (15.0). His 37 pass breakups are fourth in Oregon history.
A defender who scored five touchdowns at Oregon, Thurmond will be reunited with former teammates Max Unger and Nick Reed with the Seahawks. His first professional coach will be none other than former USC adversary Pete Carroll.
The Ducks have had at least three players drafted in five consecutive years. T.J. Ward, 38th overall to Cleveland, and Ed Dickson, 70th to Baltimore, were also selected in this year's draft.
Every Pac-10 team had at least three players drafted with the exception of Washington (2), Oregon State (1) and Washington State (0). USC led all conference schools with seven, followed by Arizona State (4).
